Andrea, from looking at some of the other threads you've posted on, it's
evident that you've had some awful experiences at our local restaurants.

I'm happy to learn that Cheever's gave you a certificate. Prunette and I
have never had a bad experience at Cheever's - I remember when it was a
    top notch florist.

At any rate, I hope others will patronize Cheever's, if only for their desserts.

I called and just wanted them to know what happened. I hoped to hear, "we are sorry." I was actually making instant gravy from a package as I called. They brought gravy to my house, and a $25 gift card. Wonderful people, wonderful service! We have been going there for the last 8 years- it has been designated as our celebration place! New job, new house, you name it- celebrate a Cheever's!
    That's amazing.

Tuck and Co are top notch! They always go the extra mile for a customer. I encourage you to patronize their other restaurants if you haven't yet. (Iron Starr, Red Prime, Pops).

And here I thought that was going to be a bad review...

How busy is Cheever's during lunch? I have a business meeting Monday till noon then was thinking about stopping by afterwards for lunch. Also I'd be alone going over business paperwork, are they weird about solo guests? I've had many a bad experience eating alone. Many waiters feel like you aren't worth their time.

That's unfortunate. I don't eat out nearly as often like I used to, and haven't for a spell, but I don't recall ever experiencing that problem. Generally if there is an issue it's a smothering issue. Perhaps that was an effort to clear me out faster and I was too dense to catch it. Possible, given my lead head and all.

With that kind of standard set by Cheever's, I doubt the chains could come close to being competitive. Their management and employees, I suspect, just aren't as invested in a restaurant's success as good independent operators are.

    John,
Let me know when you would like to come in; I will take care of getting you a table. You may stay as long as you want as well.

tuck, I actually forgot to let you know but thanks for the generosity. I went today as my business meeting was pushed back. Made it in about 1:30 and the place was still pretty busy. Tried the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, absolutely divine and a bit on the spicy side. Absolutely amazing food and I can't wait to take the misses out for a nice dinner one night.

Lisa was my waitress and I have not had better service in a very long time. I kid you not my tea was never less than an inch or so down before she was topping it off or making sure everything was ok. She checked on me just enough to feel comfortable but never did I feel overly pressured.

Good job tuck, the restaurant was everything it's hyped up to be.

The service at Good Egg restaurants is consistently some of the best around. You can really tell that the servers take their professionalism very seriously. There are only a couple places in town that compare.

Double true. Craig at the Starr readily comes to mind.

Went there this past Tuesday evening for the first time - very good experience. We had the CFS and mango pasta with the quail appetizer, all of which were quite flavorful and satisfying - exactly what refined American comfort food should be.

more kudos!! Went there Monday after work for a dinner with 2 friends I hadn't seen for several months (it was their first visit). Food was OUTSTANDING (talapia, salmon, seafood tamales. . .fried arugula. . .yum!!). We were there over 3 hours. . . no rush to leave. Kept our tea and coffee filled until we pushed back from the table.

Don't forget to get some take home goodies when you eat at Cheevers by going next door to their Market C.

Wife and I had date night at Cheevers on Friday. As always, can't go wrong eating here. We both had the filet with jalepeno lime butter. It was excellent and a great flavor twist on a steak. Also had the hummus for an appetizer and it was outstanding! The pita is definitely the best I've had in the metro, and the hummus was very good, I'd put it right there or perhaps better than Zorba's.

LOVE Cheevers. Was in there Monday before last for an art show with my friend Pego. Back again this last Sunday for brunch. And the food is always GOOD. You can't go wrong with $2 mimosas on Sundays either.

BTW - his art is still up check it out if you go.
