Default The Fat Jack Sports Service

*****Please don't make this a discussion about morals*****

I wasn't exactly sure where this belonged; this could float somewhere among Sports Mania (sports related), The Underground or Money Matters (gambling/misc). So, forgive me if this is displaced.

I occasionally hear The Fat Jack Sports Service advertised on The Animal. His prices sound awfully high, but from what I've gathered he wins about 70% of the time. According to his website, his Monday Night Football record is 36-5 over the past two seasons! I also saw how he was a runner-up in a sports pick national competition.

Given his record, I think it's safe to say he's definately a better pick than I am, even though I never play. The problem is, with his service being so expensive, I don't think it's worth utilizing unless one plays at least $100 per game. Even then, the gains are modest after juice.

Please don't turn this into whether or not gambling is right or wrong, legally or morally. I'm just wondering if anyone else has any experience with the Fat Jack. On the radio, he claims he does not fabricate his W/L record like other sports handicappers.

If you've used the Fat Jack, can you share your experiences?

Ive used him a couple years ago for the last couple months of the ncaa basketball season. All I can say about that period was that he was terrible, his record for the remainder of that season was awful. However, football is supposed to be his specialty. About his records? There is no way to know if he is completely truthful with his record, I guess you just have to take him for his word.
If I were to do it, first thing is I would "split" the fee with a friend or two. I honestly think this is why his fee is so high, he probably assumes people are sharing his picks anyways. Second, I would start at the beginning of the football season and bet the same amount for each game. Third, if things go bad, you have only yourself to blame for using his service.

This is one of the dumbest things anyone can do. Give hundreds of dollars to a joker, who like anyone else, has a 50/50 shot at winning. I've never, ever understood what makes people pay this clown (or anyone else) when you have just as much chance of winning by flipping a coin. I guess more power to him though. Just don't like watching someone make a living off others stupidity.

Lots of people make livings off others. Many off others stupidity. Nobody can be an "expert" at all the things they desire to do. If you took the time to be an expert at all your endeavers and hobbies you wouldn't have time to do what you are paid to do.

I fix most of my minor plumbing problems but if I think it will take over an hour to do so, I call the expert. What would take me 75 minutes takes them 30. So I feel my time is better spent doing what I'm expert at.

Fat Jack does the same. He is probably more expert at what he does than most sports bettor hobbiests. Doesn't mean he can't have a bad streak. The problem is his fees may be too high for the casual weekend gambler. But that's his niche. If you are a $ 100 per game gambler, you're still a hobbiest.
If you are $ 500 a game game gambler or above you've raised the stakes to where you need to do your own research or form a consensus committee.

Please tell me you didn't just compare plumbing to gambling....

If I had compared ramblin' to gamblin' I might've stood a chance as a country-western songwriter.

ok, I checked it out. Here is what I found on Fat Jack:

    NCAA Football last season: 59.71%

    NFL last season: 52.75%

    NBA this season: 51.85%

NCAA Basketball this season : 46.15%

    Total Average: 52.61%

So since he is up 2.61% people are wanting to pay him for his picks?

How is this worth it? You would have to play every pick he puts out there, plus pay to get them.

After juice you are in the hole. The simple advice is to stay away from it.
