    Hey, they're on the Southside!

Had breakfast at the Skyline last week...still good and smokey. Remember the Dairy Boy but, who remembers the tunnel that went under Eastern from East to West. It was how the kids on the east side of Eastern got to school without crossing the street.....Many fights and many other things happened there.

I remember the restaurant/bar names Peaches there...then it became a bar/club called Teddy's in the early 90's. Now it's an Auto Zone or some sort of auto store.

    Lion's Share - 43 & Penn

Rothschilds had them, too. Mr. Stoneman was big on it. I still don't know what
purpose they served except to impress customers.

Prunette has told me about it many times. She was always afraid of the thugs
that hung out in it. It's still there.

Boy, was she right about the tugs. The derelicts would sleep down there also and the kids would come up on them and get the crap scared out of themselves. Most of the Crooked Oak kids started just crossing Eastern. I thought they ahd filled it in. Can you tell me what was in the original building that Old Paris Flea Market is in?

Didn't Lion's Share become a local chain? Wasn't there one on NW Expressway
    where Pioneer Pies is now.

It was originally GEX, for Government Exchange. I think you had to be a
government employ to buy things there.

You could show your Government I.D. or, you could could buy a membership (Like Sam's today) and get in on some of the discounts. It was rather "Funky" and you didn't know if you really got the good deal.....They're gone and Tinker is still here...

My mom and dad must have bought a membership 'cause we went there all the time. I remember mom taking me there to do Christmas shopping. In fact, I think we bought our aluminum christmas tree with the colored wheel there.
