    While we're not sharing in the pain as much, we also didn't share as much in the boom. However, I'll take slow continued growth over boom and busts almost every time.

    One interesting thing about budget shortfalls as they are tied to decreases in property taxes: states where the increase is capped until a property sells will not recover their lost revenue for some time after any economic upturn. All the inventory that is being dumped on the market now will be taxed at the lower sale value and will have to turn over again after a recovery before they will see revenue that matches what they got last year...
