Hello everybody! I seem to remember a drive-in restaurant between the Redskin theater and a bowling alley. Was the name of the drive-in the Pixie? And what was the name of the bowling alley? I just found out on google street view that the Redskin and the drive-in are gone, but the bowling alley building is still there.

The Bowling alley was called the Capitol Bowlling Center. Remember the drive-in but not the name....I got a brick from the Redskin when they tore it down....

Remember Mac's Drug...Right on the corner...T.G.&Y. was next to it.....That store closed in 1965. Everyone moved to Economy Square at 29th and May.
Iremember 29th St. being Used Car Alley. Most of the cars on 29th were like the "B" rated movies......That's about the only area Southside kids could afford their cars. Bought my second car right down the street...('55 Chevy Bel-Air)...Salmon and Gray...265 Powerglide..My freind "The Villae Idiot" and I put bunch of miles (at .19 cents a gallon) on that old ride. I had a minor Fender Bender....Put on a new fender and then decided to pant it Flat Black Primer....About 40 cans later and a bunch of laughs we kept rolling....What a life Not a worry in the wolrd except where the next Madras shirt was going to come from and how Heavy I could get my mom to starch my Wheat Jeans...

It was, they started back in the 50's there as Capitol-Hill Bicycle Shop and Lawn mower repair, about 32nd and S. Robinson. They later moved to 48th and S. Penn and concentrated on small engine products (mowers/chain saws etc.) and bicycles. They finally got out of the bicycle business. They are not rhe easiest people to deal with, won't be getting any of my business. Very INDEPENDENT!!

O.K.,....Have a question for anyone out there.....On S.W. 29th and Agnew, Northwest Corner there is a Convenient store....What was there in the early years? I know there was something but I can't make my mind remember. Agnew Skating rink used to have the Best "Greasey" Hamburgers in town. I think some of the Capitol Hill guys used to go there, buy a burger and used the Grease on their hair.....Right?
