    Great speech.

Transit definitely will need funding beyond what MAPS can bring. MAPS 3 can be seed funding for transit though.

Very glad to see how much emphasis Mick's putting on transit, the central park, and the convention center.

Man, how is Seattle's CC costing them $700+ million?? That's insane.

I also read that it was a hotel tax that is helping fund that particular Convention Center. To top it all off, it is not even a brand new one, it is an expansion.

Here is a quote from the Seattle Times:

"The proposed expansion would be built one block to the northwest of the existing convention center, over Metro Transit's Convention Place Station. It would double the amount of exhibit space available for the center and would include a ballroom and retail space.

The funding would come from the existing convention-center tax of 7 percent on hotel- and motel-room bills in Seattle. Hotels and motels in the rest of King County pay 2.8 percent. That tax currently is devoted to marketing and paying off the debt from the existing convention center."
