Where can I find a good Gumbo here in OKC?
Where can I find a good Gumbo here in OKC?
Bourbon Street Cafe in Bricktown has it but I've never ordered it so not sure if it's any good.
Good gumbo in OKC, that's like finding good football in Stillwater (my bad), Stoops made me do it.
Trappers on Reno, just E. of Meridian.
Pearl's used to have good gumbo. Does Pearl's even still exist? Haven't seen or heard of one since the one on the southside closed.

It will take decades for Oklahoma City's
downtown core to regain its lost gritty,
dynamic urban character, but it's exciting
to observe and participate in the transformation.
There was a place called Cajun's Warf I think on south meridian? Don't know if it's still there.
Looks like i will have to dig the big pot out and make my own. I just wasn't feeling up to all that work. Thanks everyone for the replies.
Here is the Myspace page for them.

It is at the intersection of Ranchwood and Rt 66 in a small strip mall.
Red beans and rice are the best I have had outside of New Orleans as well as the Gumbo.
Bourbon Street's is weird. If it is out of a can, that explains it. Just something gritty and odd there.
If you're really adventurous, you can get THE best stuff online from "The Gumbo Shop" in New Orleans. They send it frozen and packed in dry ice. It's pricy, but worth it. We just don't really have good cajun here. Some places get pretty close and it passes for Oklahoma, but it's not great. Pearl's isn't bad, but again, it's just not the same.
There is a fish place in MWC called Big Boys on the corner of sooner and reno that has cajun food. The fish is outstanding, but have yet to order the gumbo even though it looks good. I talked with one of the owners and all of the recipies comes from family in Louisianna.
