Wall Street and the auto industry apparently aren't the only ones seeking the government's help in these tough economic times.

According to TMZ.com, Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt and "Girls Gone Wild" video mogul Joe Francis plan on asking Washington for bailout money.
The celebrity gossip site said that the porn executives are going to Congress to ask for $5 billion in bailout money for the pornography industry.

Flynt and Francis claim that XXX DVD sales are down 22 percent from last year
According to TMZ, Flynt said, "With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind. It's time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America."

Francis added, according to the site, "Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation's most important businesses; we feel we deserve the same consideration."

Why is this ridiculous? How is the porn industry any less important to the economy than anyone else?

I think it would be pretty amusing for the Fed to purchase an ownership stake in various pornographic companies.

It's not ridiculous at all. If anything Larry Flynt is just illustrating a point in his own attention whore way.

Thing is...Not only is he trying to stay relevant...He's also kinda right.

For those paying attention, you do realize the US is over. Obama has promised trillion dollar deficits for the next few years and China said they are going stop buying US debt. That only leaves printing more money as a solution. Get ready for hyper-inflation that will wipe what ever savings people have left which in turn will lead to higher unemployment. This will be much worse than Carter because the US was already operating in the red.

Just like the Roman empire, the US has laid the foundation for its own demise. For those that follow history you know Rome split into a Western and Eastern empire. The eastern empire lowered taxes, returned to religious root and promptly last another 300 years.

    Hyperinflation also wipes out debt.

With my student loans, my debt easily outweighs my savings.

    Bring it on.

We are the new Rome Kerry, well said. What sad times in America, we brought our own demise. You should see the thread I started along time ago called "Are we Rome?"

I work a full time job and do odd jobs on the side to make ends meet. I have a daughter in college and a son in high school, and I sure could use a "gift" bailout.

The bailout request itself isn't ridiculous at all. Porn is a BILLION dollar industry in the U.S. From an economic perspective, it deserves no less consideration than any other industry just because some may find it distasteful.

The only thing that makes it ridiculous are the circumstances: the porn industry is failing because of the internet, not because of the depression. Income from porn sales has been decreasing in double-digit percentages over the last several years. I'm sure their financial woes have been even worse lately, but the fact is the era of paying for porn is over. If that weren't the case, I'd be cheering Larry Flynt on all the way to the bank. Not Joe Francis, though; that guy's a scumbag.

I say NO to all Bailouts.

All of these bailout plans are like giving a teenager a brand new credit card when they have already maxed out 5.

Live and let die. If anything give education funds to all unemployed workers. That way they can train for jobs in industries that are growing strong in the local area.
