I was the first long hair in OKC and took a LOT of abuse (beat up a few times and threatened a LOT.) Then I started selling the clothes that went with long hair and started converting the rest of you. Life got easier when there was more of us. Honestly, though, when the disco regalia came in, I ditched out on selling clothes--felt guilty, ya know.
BUT, I never cut the hair off so I am the stereotypical old hippy dude. It's been decades since anyone other than my wife has beat me up. Life is good. What I never had was a stereotypical hippy van like yours though, '78. All I had were old Karman Ghias and ugly Ford pickups--not kool.
Does anyone remember the 53 or 4 chevy that had two front ends. The only place I ever saw it was on Commerce. It gave one pause...so to speak.
