The turn lanes at Garth Brooks and West End Pointe are open!! They have dedicated turn signals also. It's nice. Does anyone get off of Cornwell to go home in the evening? What is going on with the exit ramp? It is constantly backed up. This just started a few weeks ago. I got home around 6 tonight, and it was still backed up all the way to I-40.

I can't wait! IHOP is our favorite breakfast! I'm so glad to see Yukon taking off. I still wonder about the status of JC Penney. Does anyone have any idea about what is going in the new shopping center by Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree?

we have not tried it yet, but we will. we with some friends (who love canjun) went to the big easy one sunday and found out they are closed on sundays. our friends went back that next week. they said they sat down, looked at the menu....and left. prices were way, way too hight in their opinion. they went to some canjun, pearl place on meridian and really liked it, and the prices was much better.

Where is the new Target located in Yukon? I have to be out there on the 4th, 5th, and 6th to help set the new store.

will it be a supertarget or a regular target? we're hoping for a supertarget, as we hate grocery shopping at walmart.

there is no "super" on the sign, so i guess it will be a regular store. looks kinda small for a super store anyway.

  13. Default Re: What's happening in Yukon??

It will be a regular Target. Yukon is not big enough and the location is too far out to have SuperTarget. The company is very controlling of how they spend their money.

    Hey Thunder!
Any word on the opening date? Any word on what other stores (besides Petsmart and JC Penney's) will be next to Target?

I didn't ask for the opening date. I know is that next week, people from several stores will come together to set everything in the store. It should open in mid-September.

The sign says Oct 2008? There was a small article in last Saturdays Oklahoman that had a list of three or four stores besides Target. I know Petsmart and Rue21?? were a couple, but can't remember the others. Nothing that sounded appealing to me. The Target on Exp/Rockwell has a small food section on the east end with several brands of products unique to Target. Hope it at least has a similar area.

Have no idea what Pearl prices are. But I don't think The Big Easy prices are too high. We got a menu to take home so we can call for take-out. Just gonna put a few things from the menu with prices to give you an idea of pricing. Maybe I'm wrong and the price is to high???? But I doubt it with food prices the way they are. And this place serves you ALOT of food with your meal.

    Blackened Catfish - 11.95
    Catfish Royale - 13.95
    Creole Chicken - 11.95
Red Beans and Rice w/Blackened Sausage - 9.95
    Gumbo - 7.95

All the meals we've had comes with a BIG salad, lots of rice, corn and bread. There is so much food on the plate we laugh because you can't really see too much of the plate...LOL We always take our leftovers home to eat for lunch the next day so it's really 2 meals in 1. They always run specials and the last time we got Backened Catfish it was 10.95.

Do you think these prices are too high?

Target is supposed to open Oct. 12th. Petsmart later this year, but there's supposed to be another big named tennant coming (could still be penney's...) also some shoe store... and i guess maurices is moving over there too... also a six flags over yukon...

i may have made up one of those

In my opinion, Target is late on opening the store in Yukon.

October 12th?! That is late. All time spent to lay out the planograms and signages, especially for Halloween, will be a waste.

I'm gonna guess that this store will start the Christmas, rather than Halloween.

The date needs to be moved up to the 1st.

The Target store in MWC already got the Halloween stuff set up (in progress).

A lot of work on the Back to School project did not render great result, because most still shopped at Walmart.

like, i said, that was thier opinion. i don't know pearl's prices either. our family do not eat of much unless it's taco bell, or something cheap like that, so i'm not the best judge on restaurant prices; but yes, those do sound high.....but so do everybody else. maybe somebody else can answer your question better.

i may have made up one of those
it's maurices!!!! no way is yukon oklahoma getting a maurices!

I was told by a family member that asked someone at another Penney's that it will come, but was delayed to 2010. We'll see.....

If anyone is interested INTEGRIS is putting a lot of money into Canadian Valley. It is going to more than double in size. They have already started the Dirt work. It will be a long process but I have heard they plan on it being as big as Southwest Medical Center in 10 years or so.

I also have heard that if Target does well Yukon should be seeing an Olive Garden and a Red Lobster.

    Good info! Thanks!!!!

The Target store in Yukon is backward and the layout is very strange, but the locals will get used to it. The shoppers will enjoy the new cart style. Ever afraid of touching handles in the bathroom? The sinks are automatic! There will be no paper towel, but there is a handy dandy blow dryer. I'm not sure about the toilet, it may be automatic, but I didn't check that part. Unfortunately, the soap dispenser is not automatic.

Seasonal will be located in the far back-left corner of the store. If anyone want to check it out, go on the first day, where everything will be neatly stocked before customers start to enjoy messing everything up.

On the other end of the strip, there is a PetSmart. There will be several smaller stores in between.

Direction, when going west on I-40, don't get off at the Yukon exit. Keep going straight until you get to Garth Brooks, get off there, then turn left. It seems that Yukon expanded their lil town into a growing city. I wonder when the "Yukon exit" will change. That specific part can get people to accidently get on a turnpike.
