Thread: an only child

    Cool an only child

    Hello everyone,
We have an only child age 10 and in the fifth grade. We are 42 and 53. The problem we have is when we go places, like this summer we went to Frontier City, we try to make it as fun as we can, trying to keep up with him. We know he would have more fun if he had a friend his age along to hang with instead of us old folks. So how do we get connected with another family with an only child in the same or simular situation that we could pair up and our kids would have someone to be with when attending events and stuff?

    Thanks to all

Have a talk with one of his teachers and see if there is someone they could recommend. I am an only child and remember how lonely it can be.

Connecting with other children at school is definitely a good idea. How about around the neighborhood? Organized sports? How about Church/Sunday School? Cub Scouts?

There are certainly many outlets...just need to get involved in them.
