Everett Simrad what a "nightmarish" rememberance!!!!!! And the two Smith boys to go with him, Tom and Wallace; what VP's Grant had back then!!!!! Simrad would of fit in real nice with Germany in WWII!!!!!

On the north side of the street? Yes! What a relief.

I believe General64 said they moved inside. I think it was made
    by Mattel. It was swell.

The most expected and common sign read about having the right to refuse service to anyone - the other one read - "Don't know where Mom is, But we've got Pop on Ice."

Mr. Crappiehead: The guy answered you correctly about the signs hanging in Ellen's grill. Also, I heard that Mr. Fuller (the teacher) died, any truth to that? And I saw where someone was asking where U.S. Grant's hangout was in the sixties. The main hangout was the D&D drive in next to Kenney Skaggs tag agency (Dean and Darryl's) then it became most well known under the name of Country Club Drive In and last it was bought by a Triple AAA franchisee. The other two hangouts were the Tasty Freeze straight across the street from it and later the McDonalds. All 3 were almost in walking distance. D&D and Country Club owners sold beer and had the small inside place to eat like a minature "HOLLIE'S."

OKC! Had many a fun time at D & D's!
Darryl was our neighbor! We spent a few nights at D&D's It's a taco place
now, isn't it? He and Dean were always over at the house. Darryl's wife was
named Dean, too. I'll never forget when they decided to be insurance salesmen.
What a laugh. They came over with their suits, hats and briefcases. Very
    syndicated looking.

After the Mallicoats moved to Chandler we rarely heard of them. Darryl bought
a dealership. I think Dean went in with him. Later Dean had one. Darrly got into
some bad trouble but I don't know how his son came out. Can't remember the
    daughter's name.

Hey:............I'm Back!!!!..I have spent the past week (Plus) in beautiful lower Louisiana looking for Salvage to buy...boy does it smell bad down there. Lots of damage but nothing like Katrina...I have to go back the first of next week, I bought eight (8) ready to wear stores and one large Grocery store...Lots of fun...I haven't figured out who Crappiehead is yet but, Fuller did pass away I think in April....He had married a girl in the '64 class.....Crappiehead would know her very well....By the way, my wife has ALL of Semrads (with his name on them) Grant yearbooks. You guys are all tripping out about where the Generals hung out in the 50's and early 60's...It was called Potter's then Alan Edwards and Dub bought it....My Mom was the manager of it for both Potter's and Al 'n Dub for a long time. She also worked at Ellens' for a while....I still have their Salad Dressing Recipe..........
I've had time to remember some of the old remedies and times.....so I'll wind up the clock and get after it again. Pruner:.........I remember the Cop's name but it was Bill and I'll tell you last name at another time...He is an attorney for the D.A.'s office now.........Gotta Go...been up sine 2:00 am dring from New Orleans it's 11:45 pm now.

    see ya next time:........................................

HEY: we're all trying to put our minds to task however, we forgot about the original Grant/Southside Drive-Inn hangout.....WESTERN DIP......That (in the middle to late fifties and early sixties) was THE place to go. However, since there weren't a lot of places on the Southside of town they (the kids) would go to places like Karp's, Bixlers, Hollies, 15th st. Del Rancho, and there was one out on Newcastle road (can't remember the name)...then Potter's was built and there became an insurgence of drive-Inn's....."Crappiehead" don't you remember Country Club (D&D) being called "Hillcrest Drive-Inn"?......And, Coit's along with Hollies were kind of neutral places at tht time......

    1. Anyone remember the name of the Shoe Salesman from Rothchild's?
    2. How about the T.G.&Y. Mascot and what was the brand name of their company products.
    3. Crappiehead:.....what was the name of the Grille we went to in Grant Square Shopping Center????? Jewel Box Florist was next door to it....
    4. Crappiehead:.......do you remember the portable building that we went to lunch at across Penn from Grant? I remember Hot Dogs, and Frito Chili Pies were like 10 and 15 cents each......Health department made them move when we were in the eighth grade.....
    5. Last but not least, I have a 1965 marching band trophy won by Grant...Anyone from '65 want it??????
