Being a 64 alumni myself Mr. General64, I finally figured out, who you are; let's see if your initials are maybe BH with a sis named D, and a wife named Kay! How'd I do????? I'm retired now at Lake Eufaula; one of my best friends told me of this site, and he too knows you very well, he's done a lot of business with you through the years!!!!!

Hey everyone! Great article on the News 9 site. I'm sorry I wasn't there to meet all of you. Pretty cool that our little community is hitting the "big time"!

    Just a couple of observations.

Growing up, my parents always referred to the Stockyards as "Cowtown" and sometimes "Packing Town", but never "the Stockyards". I remember they always banked at Stockyards National Bank, and when we drove down there, the feed lots were always brimming full of cattle. And the SMELL! From where we lived at around 53rd and May, when the wind blew just right...well, it was a bit RIPE.

Brock Park...I remember how beautiful it was. Huge, decades old trees. It was so lush and lovely. Then, the '74 tornado tore it to smithereens. Mama and I went driving over there a couple of days after the storm to view the damage and the majority of what had been there had been reduced to splinters.

P.S. Why do I think if Sarah Palin was from Oklahoma City, that she'd be one of us?

The "Southside Memories" lunch is at Coit's. Right?

What day did we decide to meet? 9/13? 9/26?

    What time?

I'm not the same General but I sure recognize your name. Crappiehead, seems like I knew a guy at Herronville School that swung a pretty mean lunch pail when he was there way back when. Could that be you???? Just found this site today.

Do you remember Walsers Grocery Store @ sw 32nd and Mckinley and old man Walser being a little tipsy all the time? It eventually turned into Cinderella Cake Shop. I remember when you and Travis Brown got into it and I saved your life when me and the Heath brothers from Choctaw showed up. !! Do you remember that. I had been over at Alvin Easterling's house that day and wound up getting drunk with Rudy Quintero - man were those the days. I'll start sending you some memories that will blow your socks off.. Let me know what you've been up to !!

Let's be careful not to mention the names or give really
good hints of who people are.

If you want to know their name try private messaging.

I went to Heronville in the 50's. My lunch pail looked like a train engine.

I've been trying to remember the name of a police officer that might have worked
as a security guard at the TG&Y on 74th (hey General64). His first name may have
been Tom and his last name may have started with an S. He drove a white @1958
    Volvo.

I got to ride in it once.

I'm not sure about the 50's, but in the late 60's we used to cruise through the Del Rancho on 59th (SE hangout), then head to the Triple A (next to Kenny Skaggs) on 59th (Grant hangout) and then to the Spot on Western (Capitol Hill hangout). We would make that loop several times a night. There was always someone in our car that was dating a General or Redskin back then.

CRAPPIEHEAD At least you are the Crappiehead I thought you were and now I do remember it was your cuz who was so big on lunch pail's. Mine was Roy Rogers with Trigger on the lunch box with a matching thermos.. Remember that horrible smell they all had back when they were metal - and they ALL seemed to get some rust in the bends of the metal....Anyway, glad it's you I found and tell cuz I said Hi!! If Ellen's Grill was still on south Penn about 41st street I'd just buy you both a cheeseburger there and read the sign up over the counter - remember what it said? Actually there were 2 signs !!!!!

I'm pretty sure the Grant hangout in the early to mid 1960's was Al & Dub's drive in on SW 44th, just a little east of Penn.

Prunepicker, when I was at Grant, we hung out in 63 and 64 at D & D Country Club Drive In at 59th and Penn! Owner's were Dean Stewart and Darryl Mallicoat!!!! I left for 4 years after that, before returning to OKC!!!! Had many a fun time at D & D's!!!!!!
