All 7/11, Wal-Mart, and Sams use Ethanol in their gas.

Every car will be different as far as how it responds to Ethanol fuel. I have found that I get MUCH better gas mileage using 100% gas. I drive a 2003 Toyota Corolla and my mileage went from 31.2 MPG using gas with Ethanol to 36.4 MPG using gas without Ethanol. Test it yourself and go with what works best for you.

If I have a half tank of gas with Ethanol, would it be a problem to mix the two and fill up the rest with Ethanol Free gas.. I'm driving to Dallas and would like to use this kind of gas. Would it be alright to combine the two?

It will not hurt your car, if that is what you are asking. Everytime you fill up, you mix gas from you last tank with the new gas.

However, if you are looking to get better gas mileage, you will probably not see much of a difference as you will still have a lot of Ethanol gas left in your tank (since you are filling up at a half tank). To get the Ethanol gas out of your tank faster, let your tank get as low as you can before filling up. This process should be repeated several times to get almost all of the Ethanol out of your system.

My 1987 Silverado burns some serious rubber when it's drinking ethanol-free fuel compared to the blends.

There is a station at 17th and Classen (3.55 today) and one at 13th and Classen
(3.43 ) that do not have ethanol.

so, how are they going to start regulating the prices on ethanol gas and 100% gas? people didn't think about this before they allowed it. There is a .90 cent gas difference around the city but it doesn't have anything to do with whether there is ethanol in the gas or not. It's just the area and the station.

jawgie, do you know if those stations on Classen accept debit/credit cards or is it cash only? I was looking for some stations in that area but need to know if i gotta has the $$$

All VALERO stations I have been to thus far have pumps with NO ETHANOL / NO ALCOHOL. The Valero/McDonald's @ NW 39th & Portland has certain pumps (south side) that are without ethanol. The station at NW Expressway and Wilshire, next to City Bites and FYE is totally ethanol free.

As of the first of July, a station in Oklahoma that blends ethanol with its gas must have a sticker to that effect on the pump. (There's a $500-a-day fine for failure to do so.)

I'm nearing empty and just drove past three stations (Shell, Conoco, 7-11), each with the orange, "This gas contains up to 10% ethanol" stickers on the pumps.

The ethanol gave me terrible gas milage and without ethanol gave me better gas milage so I am getting withouth ethanol gas from now on

cs9407, ethanol can damage the vehicle. If too much ethanol, the result would be almost immediately. If a little ethanol, the result will slowly creep up.

I wonder if promoting ethanol is the government's way of jump-starting the ecomony by forcing people to buy a new vehicle after previous one is destroyed.

You know how most of the people have no brains about it and they just buy buy buy. The media misleads people as well. I'm sure they will stop ethanol production one day.

Okay, now I have to wonder about this. I don't like ethanol anyway, but I've been using it because it's cheaper. I'm thinking about buying regular gas when I can, though.

My 1998 Plymouth Voyager wasn't really in the greatest of shape when it was given to us, but in the past month or so it hasn't been running well at all. It's cut out on me twice, and feels sluggish and runs really rough. When it cuts out, it starts right back up again, but still. My gas mileage is also pretty bad-- it's a big tank (about 18 gallons or so) and I'm only getting about 400 miles on one tank. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the ethanol!

There is a VERY high probability that Ethanol gas is to blame. It could be something else (age, etc), but if it only recently started happening, I would blame it on Ethanol. To test this, start buying Ethanol free gas. Let your tank get VERY low (as low as you are willing to go) and then fill up with Ethanol free gas...repeat several times. After you have done this, most of the Ethanol is gone from your tank. Continue on Ethanol free gas for a while 3 or 4 tanks and see if you car runs better. I have done this and I get better gas mileage (I am up to 37 MPG now...a 5 MPG increase over Ethanol gas), my car is more responsive, and runs much more smoothly.

there are 3 or 4 stations in Purcell that advertise to be ethanol free, if anyone is down in that area. Seems that the first one on the north side, "purcell plaza" is always a little higher than if you go on into town

What about ONCUE and Petro (Reno & MLK/Eastern)? Do they use ethanol?

VALERO. go to any valero, they do NOT use a mix. i pretty sure conoco is the same.

i agree wholeheartedly. thats the same thing i say to people. "lets burn up our food supply!" brilliant idea. sheeesh
