I went to the AMC movie theatre near Crossroads for a movie with my fiance a few weeks ago, and it was....odd. When we went in, the poor workers didn't have any popcorn. There were several people and we were all asking where the popcorn was, and they said they ran out. That was a shocker. Then, we went toward the theatre for our movie and there were some seriously not-friendly people outside the door asking us for money (omg). After we got into our theatre, the air conditioning was off and we were the only two in the theatre (I know that Harold and Kumar isn't on the top of people's list, but it's funny!). We determined it was probably the oddest experience of our life, and don't plan to ever go back unless the movie we want to see isn't showing anywhere else in the metro (as it was then).

It was nice having the whole theatre to ourselves for a bit though, as we could have full on conversations without bothering people. I definitely would not prefer it that way, as the creepy factor was high.

Poor Crossroads. It's sad to see it decline so much, because I have great memories in there, but I think it's time to pull the plug. It's dying a slow death.

Wow. I remember when that movie theater opened in 1999 as a Regal, it was packed. It remained packed throughout the early '00s as well. I always thought it was a pretty nice theater, at least back in the day. Sounds like it may be downgraded to a dollar theater soon if its not closed completely if this trend keeps up.

Around 2000 or 2001, there was a store there called Dis-N-Dat, and when me and my family walked in, the lady working at the register said out loud "Oh S**t, another d**n customer!" and gave us dirty looks the whole time we were in there. Turns out the store closed only a few months later.

Crossroads actually died in like 2003... the body just hasn't been buried in the last five years.

I have no problem with that place going away, but I just hope it doesn't mean that south side element heads up to Bricktown instead. That is OKC's jewel and must be protected from that kinda crap.

Yeah, it's not that old, but it was all a little shocking. The place looked clean in the common areas, decent, but it smelled awful, and we actually got a pretzel (we ordered two but they only had one) that we both swear was a week old. It was my first time in that theatre and I determined that my hometown movie place that hasn't been updated since the 80s was better than that. It's usually pretty busy at night when I go to the Texas Roadhouse next door, but this was a Saturday matinee and it was just awfully weird.

That would force the even crappier dollar theater next door to slash prices

Can you even use the word *slash* if it's already a buck?

Quail still has one. It's on the upper level out in the middle of the walk-way next to Orange Julius

Not even close. While it's no Penn Square, Quail Springs is still a respectable mall with most of the traditional "mall stores".

One thing that has struck me is how unique Crossroads has been in that it never really spurred massive development in the surrounding areas of the mall. There are massive areas of simple grass lining Crossroads Blvd. If you look at the Quail-Memorial Road area, there has been a significant number outlying stores for years. Crossroads has not really ever had more than the Toys R Us and the Best Buy shopping center that has never had much more than a Celebration Station and Men's Wearhouse. I cannot remember there being droves of chain restaurants and large strip mall stores you see around Penn and Quail and have seen for some time.

There wasn't a Celebration Station near Crossroads. It was Discovery Zone and was a great fun place back in those days.

yes I have lots of great memories of going to Discovery Zone at Quail Springs as a kid! now that I think about it, it's been closed for at least 8 years, and most of that space is still unoccupied? wonder why?
