Thread: Sky % -- any particular reason for no fanfare?

Default Sky % -- any particular reason for no fanfare?

I'd expect that, after a long period of KOCO going without their own helicopter, there would be a bit of advertisement when they finally got Sky5 back.

Now, all I see is the odd overhead shot of the event du jour, stuff that I usually do not see on the other channels (or mentioned in passing). And I don't see much of it either. On the other hand, Jim Gardner and Mason Dunn, the pilots for 4 and 9 respectively, are more or less household names.

Is 5 working on a similar plan?

EDIT: I messed up the title, I know. "Sky 5".

Ask the Admins to fix the thread title for you. They aim to please.

I too, noticed that when the helicopter arrived they just acted like it was no big deal. I guess it's pointless to brag about something that the other two stations already have.

They really downplay it. You never hear anything out of the pilot, you just get footage.

I wonder what it costs KWTV in gasoline to hover over a fire for a half-hour, showing us every branch of every tree as it burns. It's gotta be painful.

This is true. They don't exactly plug them into the wall or run over to Hobby Lobby for a heavy-duty rubber band to wind up nice and tight with a come-along or something.

I've not seen it in person yet---I wonder if it's even adorned with the station's logo or anything?

I think the reason we didn't "brag" about our new Helicopter, is because we feared that we would have the same fate KWTV had ENJOY, I know I do everytime I watch this video

Everyone knows Newschannel 4's helicopter and pilot are the best of any of them.

Jim is a great guy! I think it's funny that Chopper 4 is the Original Sky 5! Gannett sold it to KFOR when they sold KOCO to Argyle Television.

Finally they reveal the new sky 5 however they just promoted it as though a digital camera was added and got a new paint job...I wonder if it's the same helicopter as the one they were leasing or if it's a whole new helictoper? hmm

Yeah, lets make a big, huge deal about being the last in the market to get a helicopter!

    ...of course not.

KOCO was actually the first in the market to have a helicopter, it just went away for 5 or 6 or 8 years.

Conversely, (paraphrase) "We finally have a chopper! Now, those of you who enjoy our newscast but are on the fence due to our lack of aerial coverage....here we are!".
