Thread: Older Oklahoma City commercials

Does anybody remember TV commercials for the store in French Market, "His and Her's Closet"? It was a clothing store owned by Jim Massey and his wife. Jim Massey was a local actor who starred in some shows at the Lyric Theatre. He lived in Midwest City with his family. This must have been around 1974.

Growing up in Midwest City, I also remember some crazy commercials by a Toyota dealership in Del City I think. I can't remember the name of the dealership but I think it started with a 'P'. The guy was screaming in the commercials. I think the guy eventually had a heart attack (not kidding) and quit doing his crazy commercials.

"Shawnee adds the "Me""---------don't remember the name of the company but I remember the commercial.

That was Padgham Toyota. I think his first name was Tom, but I may be conflating him with universal car pitchman Tom Park. I think John Smicklas owns that property now.

"It's as easy as 1,2,3, and Shawnee adds the 'me'" was Shawnee Milling Company, which had flour as well as biscuit and muffin mixes — may still have them... I don't know.

The Toyota dealership was Tom Padgam (sp) and the Shawnee commercial was Shawnee Best Flour.

This is proof that once a commercial is in your brain it will never leave. Honestly, I haven't watched or listened to a commercial since the mid 80's. Can't stand them and absolutely refuse to listen or watch them.

Whoops! Please pardon my duplication to the question.

Tom Padgam (sp) did his own commercials. Tom Park, aka One Take Tom, was famous for Lynn Hickey Dodge. Tom Park may have done other commercials but once Hickey got him he didn't work for any other dealer in the state. He did do other ads for other companies but they were outside of Oklahoma.
