I went to see the Tempest Preformed by the Oklahoma City Theatre Company last saturday. The seating allowed an excelent view, the cast was entergetic and transfered their energy to produce an enjoyable evening. At 16 dollars a seat it's a bargain. Their next preformance is the Threepenny Opera, March 18- April 10, at the Civic Center.

Prospero, Duke of Milan, his dukedom usurped by his brother Antonio, is put to sea with his little daughter Miranda and some magical books smuggled in by his loyal councilor Gonzalo. The sea casts them up on an island where Prospero, exercising his magical powers, makes a home for himself and Miranda. One day, a great storm. which Prospero has conjured, breaks up a passing ship and delivers to him the members of his usurping court. Treacherous brother, fellow conspirators and old friend alike come under Prospero's spell. This classic of romance and magic is Shakespeare at his best.

THE THREEPENNY OPERA by Betolt Brecht and Kurt Weill on

Saturday January 29 and Sunday January 30 at 2 pm at the Civic Center Music Hall

201 N. Walker in dowtown OKC.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script and some singing. NO prepared songs are needed. All ages and types are needed.

Thanks for the information. The last OKC Shakespearean play I attended was a Shakespeare In the Park pre-season performance of Macbeth. It was a simple, strightforward production, with none of the wacky gyrations that plague more 'sophisticated' Companies. That was many years ago: Sadly, although I enjoy Shakespeare (well, the Tragedies and Histories anyway) I've neglected SITP.

I've just bought a house (BTW, is it a job requirement that Mortgage Broker's be liars?) so I'll be forced to enoy the simpler (ok, cheaper) pleasures of life, so I'll be headed to Hafer.

Silly question: is wine allowed in Hafer during performances?
