Come. Journey to a time of kings, queens, and knights and shining armor at the Medieval Fair.

Held annually since 1976, this event relives the Middle Ages with arts and crafts, food, games, jousting tournaments, human chess games, costume contests, and more.

Entertainment for the whole family includes minstrels, dancing, theater and reenactments, jugglers, magicians, knights jousting on horseback and human chess games. Brightly costumed characters include King Arthur, mermaids, and the fair's king and queen.

Admission is free!

The Medieval Fair of Norman is the state's largest weekend event and the third largest event in Oklahoma, and was selected by Events Media Network as one of the top 100 events in the nation.

Browse through the medieval village of over 200 art and craft booths offering unique and handcrafted wares. Offerings include pottery, wood crafts, stained glass, armor, costumes, fairy wings, jewelry, leather crafts, hair garlands, and much more.

I've gone to that every year since 1997. Unfortunately, I'll be out of state that weekend.

I haven't been able to go since I left the state but I went every year for nearly 20 years before that. Has it really been that long? I hope some of you get to go and have a great time!

This is probably the best event in the state, I love it, my daughter was two last year and loved it, she really liked all the dogs and people dressed up, so she wants to dress up this year but she said she wants to go a cinderella (hmm I guess it can work). Well if any of you havent been to it you are really missing out, I really just like going and seeing all the crafts and shows, the experience of it all is so great.. I will be there next weekend with my fam as usual, if any of you are going i recommended getting there early because this is a big and busy event.

I love the Medieval Fair! I grew up in Norman, so I have been several times! Unfortunately, I have missed it the last two years, but I am definitely going to take the kids this weekend!

As I said earlier, I am out of state, so I missed the fair. However, our travels took us to the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, CO. This is a five-block stretch of a street that is closed to vehicular traffic, so the pedestrian rules. There were people everywhere, the smell of food was in the air, and there were street performers on every block. If I had a smoked turkey leg in my hand, the Medevial Fair substitution would have been complete.

On another note, the density of street-level retail with crowds milling around is something I really wish we had in OKC.

If i'm not mistaken, there was a festival held in Bricktown where the streets were closed in the middle and they had several stages set up with bands playing on them. People were everywhere.
