Thanks everybody for the responses I've been to Old Germany no comment and primos is typical chain, really looking for a place that makes homemade food.....I guess I should just open up my own place and see how it flys just can't figure a theme they use to have a place here in harrah the Checker board and it was outstanding!! kinda leaning toward that style but homemade I'm looking at maybe a year time frame and hopefully I'll open something!! Does anybody know the name of the chef that worked at the checkerboard he's a young guy but I was a real fan of his cooking

Hollis & Royce's Kitchen is right on Sooner Rd just north of Walmart. Its a nice little family owned restaurant.

Primos isn't really mom and pop, they are a regional chain.

Try Neff's on SE 29th Street in Del City. Teriyaki Chicken sandwich is great, so is Chocolate Pie. Very clean and Neff is a real nice guy.

Unfortunately, the chef at the Checkerboard was killed in auto/bicycle accident a few years ago. He was very talented. His wife kept it open for awhile, but finally closed. There was a sign that she was going to re-open in Midwest City, but it has not happened.

As mentioned above - check out Hollis & Royces. I think it is what you are looking for.

Yeah I know about the husband being killed by a car, and they closed and rentavated and reopen for a short time in Harrah and the wife brought in a new chef he was like in late 20 maybe early 30s and the food was great!! and then they closed saying they were going to move to midwest city but that never happened, I just like to learn where the chef went too, want to talk to him about a bussiness venture..

Okay, local chain, call it what you want, but I wouldn't exactly call it a "mom and pop" operation, which is what the thread is about. Especially since they have plans to add more locations. Sounds like a chain to me...
