Why can't OU basketball have local attendees?

    Good question.

Apparently they blame the building but don’t want to do much to help change things.

Of course, Oklahoma is a football-first state by a huge margin.

Then the Thunder came along, and they are not only big-time but consistently good to great.

I have always loved OU basketball but it's much harder to watch after watching so much NBA.

Very true. And between the one and done rule and an unmitigated transfer portal, it’s just not fun to keep up with it anymore.

Most universities have their sports complexes on site. And a lot students don't have the funds or transportation to travel downtown.

i will explain it to you... i live in norman, on the north west side. if i'm choosing to go to a basketball game it is just as fast for me to get downtown okc for a thunder game, as it is for me to get across norman to the LNC. with no traffic, it's 15-18 minutes. with any traffic it is a 25 minute drive at least. leaving the womens basketball game yesterday, it took 32 minutes to get from the LNC to my home in northwest Norman.

Not an option for everyone but for those coming to Norman from Edmond/OKC commuter rail could be a good future option. And another reason to build a new arena on-campus at the Duck Pond site. Parking is significantly easier if distributed amongst multiple lots/garages like it would be on-campus, not to mention closer proximity to students and walking distance to Campus Corner for before/after game food & drinks.

and of course that will be done at the earliest in like 2040... if ever.. and literally no one is proposing a real plan to build on the duck pond site.... so it's just a dream that literally NO ONE is considering, so why do we keep talking about it?

If we are talking about the rail service for OU games, what about flying cars? That might happen Sooner...

Hey I take the train down from OKC for 11 and 2-3:00 football games all the time!

It is definitely being discussed just not publicly yet.

Perhaps I'm confusing things, but wasn't this plan essential torpedoed when the organizing authority put some bizarre restrictions on how localities could fund their own access projects?

Don't get me wrong; I've ridden the DART around Dallas and it's great, but I just don't see the same model applying to OKC because of the drastically different population density.

Sooners baseball suffered their first loss to Dallas Baptist 11-0 yesterday, the undefeated streak was a good run

It looks like those who were ready to just totally write off this basketball season were a little premature. While they may not advance much, speculation is that this will get them in the tournament.

Nice win - 6 guys in double figures and no one over 13. Johnson goes 0-14 from the field for Tx.
