Thread: Chesapeake empire marches on

In the context of this thread, people are just wishing for a good employer to move here and snap up this old Chesapeake property, resulting in a bunch of new high-paying jobs.

And since that has effectively never happened, there is a lot of discussion as to why.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the educational systems here get better also (thank goodness for the parental choice tax credit!). My point was this group has vastly different (and strong) opinions about the direction of OKC. I respect everyone's view, even if I don't agree with it... or even understand it. I have learned a lot of valuable information in this forum.

Yes, this is next statement is exaggerated to make the point... it's like this general posters in this board want all surface (regular) parking banned for parking garaged, all zoning turned into nothing but multi-use districts that ban all cars, must park in a garage and train or bus somewhere... only certain businesses are good enough to be wanted here, forget the rest. You get the point...

So, back to reality, this great is probably the best in OKC to keep up with current events within the city (and elsewhere in the right thread). Pete is the best I found at documenting progress of, well, just about everything that goes on it OKC... to the point I kind of think he is underappreciated, given all the hard work he puts in (case and point, OKANA). But for the direction of OKC as a whole, this site (more like the posters) has to be taken with a grain of salt because they are typically in the minority of the metro population and seem to align better with other cities (I just use NYC and LA for an example). OKC has made huge strides in many aspects over the past several years, even surpassing Tulsa for the best city in OK (by just about all standards)... but all cities fall short in some aspects.

If you don’t admit the failings you will never overcome them. They should be talked about over and over and over until things change. OK is worth fighting for. Ignorance and denial doesn't mean love or loyalty.
