This is finally happening. The City of Moore posted on social media that construction will begin in early 2025. The completion in Summer of 26.

The increased traffic on 12th and 19th street because of this will be a nightmare for 2 years, not looking forward to this.

I wonder if they're going to put a temporary railroad crossing there like they did Robinson and Norman when they were constructing the overpass there?

There will be a temporary shoofly for the railroad tracks, but 4th street will be fully closed and detoured throughout construction.

Initially that was the plan but at some point that idea was abandoned.

In the past week, Allen Contracting has built a fenced-in staging area next to Randal's heat and air. The 4th Street underpass project should start here in the next couple of weeks.

What have they done so far? Last few times I've been by there, it didn't really look like anything was happening still.....

Nothing much yet. Just a construction yard and office. They have been doing more utility work this week though. The mayor said 'early spring' in the newsletter so probably a gradual ramp up until then.

Mainly just prep work. Per the mayor's comments from this past Monday's city council meeting they will be posting on the city's website about a ground breaking ceremony happening sometime around the twentieth.

The excavators have arrived. So after next week I would say for the serious work to start.

I confirmed with the city manager last night that the official ground breaking is on the twentieth with an estimated start date of Mid-March. At this time there are still two utility companies working on moving things with ECD of the first week in March. He also stated 4th would be closed immediately in order to build the shoofly.

Did that groundbreaking happen yet? The construction signs are staged on the ground and two excavators are staged in a "photo-op" position with a pile of dirt in front of them.

Not sure or is that for the new library? I know the new Moore Public Library was supposed to start at that site as well.

It's definitely 4th street underpass prep work. I haven't heard anything about a new library for awhile now. Seems to be in early design stages.

Agreed. I dont think they even have plans drawn up for the public to view on the new library yet. I'll be very happy when that happens too.

I do wish The Station has an inside pool though and that they would expand the workout area again. It's getting crazy busy in there again. And not having that pool....it would be a great way to partner with the school district since they have go to Earlywine right now or even Norman....they should be able to practice in their own city.

I am optimistic the Station will expand with an indoor pool, its just makes sense. I think now the Station is getting a bit overcrowded with not just the workout facilities, but even the programming. We had our son in the basketball league this year, and the amount of people their on Saturdays for games was just crazy.

I wonder if the whole Norman Library fiasco gave Moore cold feet? I suspect they want to see some kind of resolution down there before bringing it to the people for a vote. Or at least see the contractors pay punitive damages in court.

This project has started. Half of the street over by Turner has been demolished. I think they are going to have 4th street curve into Turner here for the detour.

The library will be going in south of the farmer’s market area. They have some plans (council doors anyway) but I haven’t heard any discussion lately as to when that’ll be brought before the public. I do know pioneer has been asking from public feedback regarding it for the past year or so.

That’s the last utility move required before they get started. Latest timeframe I’ve seen is end of March for the official start. There was a planned groundbreaking but then we had them terribly cold temps that week.

I was told they’ll be closing 4th immediately when the project starts in order to begin building the shoofly. In order to do that Turner will need to be open as it’s a dedicated detour. My guess is the project will officially start soon after the current utility move is done and Turner is available to be reopened.

I'm sure they are moving utilities also, but they have completely demolished WB 4th street between Turner and Tower Dr probably so they can go ahead rebuild it now and not have to circle back and do it at the end of the project. So technically speaking, the contract is underway and they are doing the first phase of the project.
