What is the plan for The Big House? I had heard that one of the main wrecking companies in town won't even bid on the demo because of how close they built the new arena--even after multiple people told the planners it was too close.

But demolition of adjacent multi-story buildings don't happen all the time in Oklahoma. This may be a partial implode job where they have the south side of the structure fall away from the new arena.

This demo will not be rocket science so i think a number of qualified companies will want to bid on it. OkC has competent demo companies for which this will suit.

Plans were just filed for the connector between the barns and the new coliseum.

This was to be included in the original MAPS program but had to be cut due to cost overruns. Not sure of the funding source but the fairgrounds itself makes a ton.

The Gateway of Champions Promenade is a new 73,250 square-foot building that will be constructed in the location of the existing Norick Arena, once the new Fairgrounds Coliseum is complete and the Norick Arena is demolished. The building is comprised of a dirt-floor warm-up area, expo hall, and support spaces.

Is there going to be a path thru this for the people that park on the south side of the railroad tracks, or are people just going to have to walk all the way around the new arena? It looks like Delmar Gardens Ave that went in and connected to Gordon Cooper is going to be blocked off by all this and it always seems like lots of people enter the State Fair right there.

The picture depicts a set of doors on both ends of the new promenade. Who knows if it will be locked during certain events.
