Thread: Nashbird

  1. Default Re: Nashbird

CEO Marc Dunham is making appeals on social media this morning for customers to visit their last remaining location at NW 9th and Broadway. It appears this location is in danger of closing.

I noticed lately they have been pushing for a late night crowd on weekends trying to get people to go there and drink. Calling it Nashbar.

I think the chicken scene downtown is ultra competitive and they are struggling to find their niche.

Dave's Hot Chicken opening in bricktown might've been the last nail

Between Dave's in Bricktown and Chick-n-Beer on 23rd, it's tough.

I've never been to Dave's, is it that much better? I love Nashbird, I'll be sad when they close which seems inevitable at this point.

You also have Rays (inside Parlor) and Boom Chicken (inside Bar Cichetti) that are servicing the same areas as Nashbird and Daves. There is just too much clucking competition.

To me Dave's Hot Chicken wins because of the options, location, and the group that runs it. Nashbird is good, but it doesn't really stand out when it comes to service. It is also in a location that is sometimes forgotten about. There are plenty of bars around with already established regulars. There is no way Nashbird survives this location. I will give them some credit, they lasted longer than I could ever imagine.

I suppose I deviate from the general consensus.

I prefer Nashbird because they have ranch. I never understood why Dave's Hot Chicken doesn't.

I hope Nashbird stays around. I try go a few times a year.

What I found w/ Dave's is consistency. Nashbird has been hit and miss for me - I'm talking about level of spice...

All of this discourse is missing a central fact: Ray's is the best hot chicken in the 405. Ray's is in the Parlor Food Court off of 6th.

The one time I tried Nashbird, well before the pandemic started, the chicken had this thick breading on it and I was not a fan. Haven't been back since, but maybe I'll give it another shot soon. The pictures of their chicken that I can find online now look much more like what I'd expect for Nashville Hot.

Dave's is hilariously overpriced for what it is.

Went once before Thunder game last season and thought the same thing. 2 tenders with fries is like $12 plus drink. I'll take Raising Canes for about $4 cheaper. However downtown prices are going to be more.

Just like a lot of the other recent closures, I wonder if the lease is up at the end of the year and they are looking at a significant increase in rent.

But each tender is damn near the size of a half chicken breast. I've always felt that two tenders, fries, and drink is a large meal. I eat at Dave's every 10-14 days for lunch and always feel that it's a solid value.

They must have lowered their prices. I took our 3 person family out to Dave's in Edmond and with nothing at all extravagent, it was north of $50.

But I just looked on the online menu and things do seem pretty reasonable to be fair.

    I generally prefer Nashbird's.

But money has spoken. It appears Dave's Hot Chicken has won the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich race.
