They just need to zone something next to UCO as a 'campus corner' sort of district, and develop it.
Not a fan of this approach where they're colonizing streetcorners and hoping things spread.
They is whoever it needs to be.
Colonizing is building little encroachments of entertainment into what is still mostly residential. It may spread or it may just remain kind of out of place on that corner. For at least 20 years, there has been talk of an entertainment district connecting downtown Edmond to the University. I think that was going to go on Ayers.
And maybe I just haven't been on Hurd or paid attention to it in 20ish years and I'm thinking maybe it may already have a few businesses like this because of the Heard on Hurd business?
I’m trying to understand your perspective on this development. The proposal shows the mixed use building fronting Broadway which has a great mix of commercial/retail. This area of Edmond is quickly becoming the best example of mix-use of any suburb in the state. In my opinion this development is a perfect fit for infill within this area. There are several larger residential and apartments going in to the south and west.
If the infill continues to happen and downtown to OCU becomes truly walkable…lookout. It might become the best area for anyone that loves urban style development.
