The railroad got its name 42 years before Oklahoma existed as a state.

Reminds me of the time I asked my dad why those selfish old railroads put their tracks all nilly-willy and crossing back and forth over Western on the north side of town. He said the tracks were probably there before the Land Run.

I know I've said this before. But I'm so happy. A dream that started out as scribbles on a napkin by Hal McKnight and a group of us from the Oklahoma Bicycle Society one night over a few beers became a proposal to the City Council that became the whole trails system, Of course much smaller. Our dream was just a trail around Overholser, Hefner, Draper and a trail connecting the three. I'm thrilled that it's grown something much bigger. I'm sure Hal is looking down and smiling!

I would have sworn I saw a couple years ago that he died. But I guess I imagined it.
