Thread: Restaurant closings

I've eaten at the one in Yukon, it was pretty good. Now that one in Mustang is total trash. I've eaten there 3 times, each time progressively worse than the last. On my 3rd attempt to get good food from there I got the chicken fried steak because everyone said they were one of the best. When it came out it was burnt and the meat was so terribly overcooked I sent it back, did not reorder food, and left. It was only the second time in my life I've ever sent food back, and the only time I've ever left a restaurant having not eaten. I'm not sure if these places have different ownership, maybe within a common family like Chelinos, but the one in Mustang doesn't seem to be in the same ballpark as the on in Yukon.

    Sincerely Coffee posted this:

"To our OKC coffee friends: We have made the unexpected and painful decision to close Sincerely Coffee. While the future for Sincerely looked bright, our family has medical needs that make it impossible for us to continue this journey at this time.

If you’ve met us in the café, you know we loved being here and loved knowing you. It has been a privilege to share this space with you for a season. Thank you for your smiles, your kindness, your support, and for sharing a small piece of your lives with us. While this particular chapter is closing, we are still your neighbors, and we hope to see you around town soon.

On a more practical note, the café is for sale, as is our roasting equipment, so if you know anyone with a dream, please give them our emails. We hope that this will be a new chapter in someone else’s story."

It will be interesting to see if the new owners will decide to keep it as a coffee shop or turn into something else

Yea, it definitely wasn’t great, and i think the charcoal crust tended to throw a lot of folks off.

    Here is the reason:

I am not surprised, their food portions were really small and overpriced and owner not paying their employees

Looks like Grill on the Hill is closing. Insiders were told today and a post on an FB group said announcement coming tomorrow.

This one hurts. Every time I am there it is so busy. It always surprises me places like this close.

Last night the owner of Bun Box stated she intends on closing for good.

Royal Sandwich Shoppe has a sign on the door that says "Sorry, temporarily closed", but I'd bet it's permanent. We ate there once and it was horrible (lobster roll was filled with something similar to goopy tuna salad, except with probably lobster in it, couldn't tell, sides were just bad and small).

I am not surprised, with prices going up, people can not afford to pay rent and get ingredients to make food and stuff like that, it sucks

She just posted on Instagram that bun box 2.0 is open in the pink building across the street from the original location

Then she should have not posted "Closing for good" which means never open anywhere ever again

As far as I could tell this morning, the 'new' Bun Box is just some temp canopies -- not within the building itself.

I'm confused by all of this.

My family went by Grill on the Hill and the sign on the door said they where closed for maintenance. Their Google page says they are closed temporarily. I hope that is true. It's one of our favorite Saturday breakfast spots since we live equidistant from Sunnyside and there, it's a similar menu without the crazy wait times.

Could those be set up for the Asian District Night Market that's happening this week?

Could be but the Pink Building is still completely boarded up, so I don't see how Bun Box could be operating there.

I was excited for Royal Sandwich until I tried it. Quality for price was not matching. It was nothing more than "fine", so I never wanted to deal with parking in film row for it, just like Sun Cattle.

Ha, we read about someone else griping about parking in Film Row a few days ago, and every time we've been there (a dozen times, at least) it has not been a problem. We go on Sat afternoons (sometimes to concerts at Jones, but we usually park in the garage for those), so that may be a factor, but there's a lot next to the Paramount bldg that only had about 15 cars in it this last Sat afternoon, there are spots all around the bldgs in that area, there is street parking, there are other lots (I've heard the Sonic lot is used for Sun Cattle and Jones Assembly patrons, but we've never used it). Just go to Google Maps and turn on the satellite layer and you'll see plenty of parking in that area.

I have no issues parking at Bar Arbolada between 4-5pm m-f, but I also don't come down here on weekends, since I work downtown it is usually at lunch m-f when I would be going.

Right, and a sandwich place is going to do most of its business at lunchtime and since there are few workers and residents in the immediate area, you have to make it easy for others to get in and out of there for lunch.

That location is always going to have a problem if the primary business is mid-day. Sun Cattle is very busy at nighttime and on weekends.

Super confusing. She has since deleted that post on IG

    Oh my.

Been there forever and was a nice place, although I hadn't been in there in at least a decade.
