Edmond wants to be one of those most bestest livable burbs but the traffic light situation makes people hate driving in Edmond. That kinda lowers the quality of life in Edmond. People don't want to travel two miles down the road because they'll encounter 16 lights round trip (wish that was hyperbole).

I totally agree. Right now. Edmond It's comparable to Frisco Texas when it comes to traffic. Which I can see Edmond, reaching a similar population at some point. However, however.
The traffic situation is really bad. I think they could just fix it by instead of putting new lights in they install roundabouts

But Unlike Frisco, Texas Edmond, Oklahoma still has time to fix its problems with traffic. Before it gets bad in the more rural parts of town.

We spent Memorial Day Weekend and a few days before in Frisco. While they have twice the population of Edmond, I felt traffic moved much more efficiently. They have 121 and the DNT, lots of turn lanes, turnabouts, giant intersections, controlled access shopping centers, dedicated right turn lanes at major intersections. We have been going down there for about 2 decades and remember when it was just the north tollway and a newly built Ikea. Frisco definitely feels much more like a city or at least well developed suburb compared to Edmond.

They finally fixed the transition from the asphalt to concrete southbound I-35 right before 2nd street.

Yes, we drove all over north Dallas for a baseball tournament this past weekend and we zoomed everywhere. There is a ton of traffic no doubt, but it all moves at a good clip with the assistance of double left turn lanes, dedicated right turn lanes, Texas turnarounds on the highways, etc. All arterial roads are six lanes with medians. Edmond and OKC could get ahead of it but even when they expand the two-lanes out there to four-lanes, they're not putting any right turn only lanes in or anything. Same with 74 up through Waterloo, not only failed to make it a controlled access highway which it needs to be, but there are no dedicated right turn lanes, etc.

You bring up double left turn lanes. There's one of those on westbound Covell at Santa Fe. But it quickly goes down to one lane on Santa Fe. The people who drive the area regularly know this. Thus, no one wants to use the outside turn lane and the left most lane gets long and backed up. Poor design and execution.

Yep, one of those Covell got done first deals. Once they get Santa Fe widened to 4 the rest of the way up from Danforth up to Covell that'll be nice. But who knows when that will be.

It's a head scratcher why they couldn't have widened Covell but only laned out a single lane until Santa Fe was ready.

    Or if it will be.

Look at northbound Coltrane between 15th and 2nd
    2 lanes > one lane > two > one > two

Because the businesses have to pay for the widening.

Lol....This is another great example of incompetent planning and vision over the past 40+ years as Edmond has gone from 35k to 100k in population.

What all are they doing? Are they moving them to one way on each side?
