And speaking of restaurant chains that were mentioned the only one that would really make my day is a Pappadeaux. Last I heard they still own the property at the Kilpatrick Service road and SH-74. What is the hold up?

Pappadeaux does indeed still own that property in OKC but they've been having all kinds of internal issues.

That's strange they're having issues because every time I go to any of them in Dallas they are absolutely hopping with activity. They even have a location in the DFW airport and they stay busy. I wish they'd sort their stuff out and open up in OKC.

But when they cook it good that sh!t slaps. Now with my experiences on on the West Coast In-N-Out’s, The good thing with them is the consistency. It’s not the best burger I’ve ever had, Nor are their fries, But for the price, it’s pretty good. I live right around the corner from one so I eat there once or twice a week which I’m gonna cut down on. That said restaurants like an In-N-Out Or a shake shack would be good to have as an option in the Oklahoma City area.

I’ll also second another posters excitement about steak ‘n Shake returning. It was a cold and rainy night in Oklahoma City, right around Covid when I discovered there was no more steak n shake to be found in the metropolitan area. Needless to say, I was not happy when I discovered this news. Though even before that I hadn’t eaten at one for years. It had just popped into my mind one night and I thought man some steak ‘n Shake would be really good. Some years later, I was in Dallas and I was trying to decide where to eat and I was driving along Preston Road in Frisco And I came across one and thought, huh? I’ll have that. I’m sure I went there when I lived in Dallas though I can’t remember. But that specific day I went, It was pretty good.

Some fast food chains just need to stay in their own regions though. Honestly, if it was up to me, I would prefer In-N-Out remain in the western states. I draw the line at Oklahoma City and Dallas. Tulsa doesn’t get one. They are too far east. But Tulsa does get a White Castle and Oklahoma City does not. The only ones I’ve ever had at the restaurants are in the Las Vegas and St. Louis areas.

Now I’ve noticed chains like Sonic and Whataburger To be on a downward spiral since expanding. Whataburger is still pretty decent. I absolutely cannot stand sonic anymore yet given its novelty. I still try it once a year.

Braum’s to me is good for one thing and that is their whole milk.
Wait till you hear about the Tennessee location coming soon

That was their best sandwich and I waited for years for it to come back. The Sweet N' Spicy is a close second though, and last time I was there, they still had it.

I would like to get excited but 11 years after the first Texas location. I think 5 years ago in N out would’ve been a get. It would’ve been a saks fifth Avenue. Now if we got one of feels like inevitable franchise expansion. Like once they’re here then it’ll be like Walmart. By being inaccessible and selective with the markets they were in drove their success. And now I almost would rather they not and okc did they’re own things. I won’t frequent the place. There is other stuff out there.

Stop me if I've told this story before...

Back when I was married, the wife took the kids on a Braum's tour for something to do during summer. This was about 18 years ago. One of the other moms in the group asked, "I can't help but notice that everything in this facility is immaculately clean. Yet all the restaurants are so dirty. Why?" The tour guide said that was not the first time they'd been asked that same question.

PluPan, next time you are in DFW, try Shell Shack. Not as fancy as Pappadeaux, but the food is excellent. Best fried shrimp I've ever had, especially when dipped in their house ranch sauce.

I must be one of the few who doesn't really care for Pappadeaux. I've been exactly twice. Once was OK. The second time was in an airport (I can't remember if it was DFW or IAH) and it was overpriced and not great.

Have you tried their breakfast burger? That thing is pure genius!

Second. Having spent numerous years in Lafayette, LA, I tried it once and that was enough. Just didn't measure up.

It was great in the 90s, but not so much now.

I believe DFW has 6 Bo'jangles now. And they're all your usual restaurants not connected to a gasoline station

Amazing. If Buccees can keep 100 toilets spotless....why can't Braums keep 12 tabletops clean? It seems their on premise management gives no priority to keeping the tables and floors clean. That is an institutional problem within the system

You can't really compare the two. One's a gas station and the other is a fast food chain. There's a designated group of staff members at Buc-ees that can clean the restrooms and not worry about a drive-through lunch rush. Braums has to utilize the same few staff members to do everything, even during peak hours. Braums is generally clean when I go between lunch and dinner too. Not to mention that Buc-ees staff members get paid way more than Braums employees do.

Wait, you can't compare the two because one has dedicated staff to clean the bathroom but the other doesn't have dedicated staff to clean the bathroom?

While one is a gas station and one is a fast-food chain, both have to accommodate drive thrus and a large amount of foot traffic, both sell groceries, both sell burgers, both sell fries, both sell ice cream. One of them just also sells fuel.....

It’s not crazy to say that these are two very different types of establishments with different structures lol. It’s not the products being sold.

I'm not sure if there is any commercial endeavor in Oklahoma that is more subjective and judgmental than food service. Best I can figure, Oklahoma is filled with idiots that frequent filthy, incompetent restaurants that serve inedible and unsafe food. Okies are stupid and visit again and again, and the crooked, almost criminal operators sell us dreck. I can only thank our faith in the saving power of Jesus that we have not all died of food poising or starvation!
