We didn't have the expectations of the ambiance and decor that it seems kids (or their parents) now demand. It certainly didn't feel like prison living there.... unless it was the jail in Animal House. LOL. Good times. Great memories.
Ditto - 45 years ago for me. Lived in it for 3 years. Met my wife and still have several friends. My son was there a few years ago and it seemed 1/2 as big as when l was there.

Jacobson Hall -- one of the original buildings on campus and home of the Visitor Center -- is getting a full renovation plus a 2-level 10,000 square foot expansion.

I was down there today and noticed the entire area between the building and Boyd (the grassy elliptical area) is completely graded and fenced off (last photo). Looks like a new plaza in front of the building as well as significant landscaping.

Really one of the most beautiful buildings in the state and it's highly visible from Campus Corner.

That last picture is one of the areas they’re talking about using for tailgating. I think part of this project will address the longstanding drainage issues of that area.

that was my #1 question when they said that area was going to be opened for tailgating ... really smart to take care of that

Norman has more tower cranes up than OKC. Sigh.

    Then you for the pics!

You know, if you look hard enough for something to complain about, you'll most definitely find it.

I wonder if the same is true for looking for something positive.

I'm not complaining for Norman, just hoping spme of the approved projects for OKC start going vertical.

I'm truly glad OU is getting new housing, as those old towers were dingy and fledgling. This is much needed!

Alright. Well, your use of the word fledgling told me all I need to know.

That is correct. This is the primary purpose. Drainage issues have long been a problem. I think this is a part of the campus being “SEC ready” as the slogan goes. There are a number of small, but not insignificant projects occurring right now no doubt in preparation for the first football game.

I have not heard, but I hope Pete is correct that there will be some enhanced landscaping here. I agree, a gorgeous building and such a high profile lawn along Boyd.

OU just announced the public tailgaiting locations and the area being reworked is included:

    Duck Pond tailgate! Finally!

You know people are going to read that as, as long as it's not prohibited, it's fair game. lol. They only said "recommended". Honestly, i dont see too many people take that approach, but every once in a while you see some stupid "bro-fest" in short khakis and a polo giving it a go.

I tailgated a few years on a "non-sanctioned" area (the years they stopped letting us tailgate on Lindsey with the new dorms) and honestly no one cares unless you are making a mess or getting the police called on you. We have since moved to a sanctioned area as they opened more up.
