You can't book any flights with them after Aug 8th too any locations from OKC. I haven't seen anything official trying to find out.

This! It got to the point that I stopped bothering to even check their schedule anymore when looking at non-stop flights to and from Vegas. While the prices were decent, the times never seemed to ever work out.

Flew out of OKC for the first time in quite a while, had a very nice experience. Good representation for the city, one of the nicer regional-type airports I've been to.

Security was a breeze - walked straight in through Precheck. The main concourse areas were very nice. Spacious, clean, modern looking. Plenty of food and drink options on the way to my gate. Really like some of the OKC branding they've put up.

Feel like some of the gate signage could be updated, electronic updates would be nice. There were very few power outlets at my gate, which is a bit of a headache. Most chairs didn't have anything to plug into.

    Overall - very nice airport.

The power outlet thing is something I see all over the country. I get that it's expensive to put them in, but with so many people using their phones as their boarding pass these days, it would be nice to not have to cluster around the few ports available. And who wants to sit at those "charging stations"?

I get that you can't re-arrange the seating once you have put in the power lines and people aren't meant to be in that area for too long, but when the planes themselves also don't have charging ports, it becomes a problem if you dont have a power bank. It's your entertainment device on the plane now and once you land, it's your rideshare reservation kiosk. It needs the juice man! And so many of those crappy regional jets they love to have come to Will Rogers, don't have any power options (usb or plugs) so that's a super bummer. So both the airports and the airlines aren't super awesome in this area. You get on a Boeing or Airbus, and you have them...you know, a real airplane. Oh how i wish those regionals would be tossed.

Not on a Southwest Boeing, you don't. But that is changing and will change with them. Especially tough with them because they don't provide seatback IFE.

Last Southwest flight I was on had both usb and power outlets. It was the second SW flight I'd been on with them.

I've flown to 5 different countries in Europe,1 in north Africa, and 1 in the middle east in the past month and none of those airports have plug-ins at the seats. I guess it's going to take along time for all airports to catch up with the times lol

Well they probably make money from renting out space to those 'Power bank' vendors so they are in no hurry to catch up with the times.

Right, that amenity is slowing coming into their fleet. I think I have seen it once, too, and I fly about once a month.

From the Oklahoman: Will Rogers World Airport could see support for nonstop flights through state grant funds.

Most frequent flyers have portable chargers like Anker, Powerbank, etc. I can't remember the last time I went looking for a power outlet at an airport .

Also, the charging connectivity on planes can be sketchy, even with USB ports. I flew OKC-CPT roundtrip in April -19 hours each way including two 16 hour nonstops, and only plugged in twice.

Did you fly Delta through ATL to Cape Town? I did that long trek 3 years ago but through JFK and Nairobi.

I work in the middle east, and for my last days off instead of coming home (OK) I went to Europe. To cram in everything I wanted to do I had to fly. Like going to Tangier and Montenegro. Can't take a train for that lol

Unknowingly lol. Rented a small car and drove to kotor and just followed Google maps, not knowing there was another route. Had fun driving it, though.

Yep. Very happy they started that non-stop, shaved off 12 hours of travel time. Going again in October.

To each their own - I fly about 2 times a month. A charging bank is just another device I have to lug around, would rather have just a wall plug.

There's been some James Bond movies filmed there. 25 turns on the switchback.

Side note, the women of Montenegro are the tallest in the world collectively. At six feet three avg ! I took a selfie with a 15 year old girl who was 6 ft 1 inch ! Had me by an inch.

I don't want to keep taking the thread off track lol, but yeah, the women are pretty tall. I'm 6'3" but never saw any that tall. Probably 5'9 ,5'10 is the tallest I ever saw

    [QUOTE=scottk;1270213]Southwest? Frontier?

We found the Allegiant routes too inconsistent for us to travel and arrive and leave on the days we wanted compared to Southwest having three or so non-stops to Las Vegas every day.

Frontier isn't a bad option if you travel light, don't mind a stop in Denver to your final destination, and can make it work with your schedule. At one time they had the "season pass" option for unlimited flights to save money, not sure if they still have that option.[/QUOTE

So has anyone found out why Allegiant is leaving. As far as cost I would not consider Southwest as all that cheap compared to Allegiant. A year around I booked two one way flights with a discount code and paid $75 to fly round trip. SWA seems to be $250 if your lucky. Frontier is ok but once again not the best flight times.

Allegiant has been struggling a bit. Remember, they are a low-cost airline, so their business model is going to be different than most of the established airlines. They are really focusing on smaller airports in higher income areas (mainly the NE) and connecting them to vacation destinations via smaller airports like Ft. Myers or Sarasota. They just opened up a resort near Sarasota which is a pretty interesting diversification. As I noted earlier, they are also hurting from delayed Boeing deliveries and probably still have a pilot shortage.

In short, I wouldn't take Allegiant's current lapse at OKC as an indication of anything other than their specific business model at the moment. I think they'll be back in a few years when they get more planes.
