They had shutters on them last week - did they remove them again?
I don't like how the stucco looks. You can see all the rectangular panels that the stucco is covering. I seems like it should be a thicker coating or something...or is it just me?
Maybe they took the shutters off to redo the stucco?
I’m posting this image to compare the design and the final product. I wish they had stuck to their original plan; it looks much more authentic and elegant.
This shows the effect that just a touch of value engineering can do. I'll bet they barely shaved anything off the total project cost, but the visual appeal diminished significantly.
Some things are naturally going to change a bit from concept to reality, and of course the vegetation shown is all mature. The things that drive me nuts are cutting back on window treatments and the sloppy stucco work. Looks like the backing boards are already buckling and getting ready to pop out. I'll bet they have to re-stucco within a few years (if not within a few months).
edit : I was originally talking about the design .. (pretty much the same)
but upon closer look .. it seems like the construction quality was pretty lacking
The balconies look hideous.
I agree. Looks like they need to finish the trim out. In the concept, there is a orangy-tannish trim around the arches and balconies as well as a round trim piece that are all missing. The lack of shutters on the upper left window when all the other windows have shutters is odd also.
The exterior was a swing and a miss. Very poor quality, sadly. Lost potential it seems.
I agree...it looks cheap
