Thread: Restaurant closings

  1. Default Re: Restaurant closings

Went there at the beginning of the year. Food was really good, and they had some unique offerings I hadn't seen elsewhere (not sure how often the Shaanxi province gets represented in Chinese restaurants). Sad to see it go before I had another chance to try more, but when I was there, I was the only patron. So, might have been a sign they weren't bringing in the customers.

They had no idea how to promote themselves.

And that entire strip has had nothing but turnover. They finally gave up and converted the space on the southern end to an office use.

They failed at atracting customers, if I would've heard about them I'd for sure give them a try, too bad

Had no clue they were there. How long were they open?

This is an example of why we shouldnt necessarily force commercial developments to have retail on ground floor. While I would prefer most urban developments to have retail on the street, you sometimes cant force it. Fortunately the coffee shop and book store have stayed in business, and there will be a restaurant come take this space soon enough. And yes, the marketing, the concept, the Asian language as part of the signage all contributed to its downfall.

Devon leased only one of the dozen or so ground-level spaces (Hot Tamale) and it didn't last long.

Steelyard has struggled to lease its retail space.

The Pontiac Building mostly gave up on retail in favor of office use.

There isn't nearly enough foot traffic for many of these projects.

The Rose Room on Classen appears to have closed and emptied that space. If this was posted early and I didn't see it, whoops.

Yokozuna at Chisholm Creek has closed.

They had been dying a slow death for a long time.

While I liked going to eat at the bar, it was never full. Or even half full. Just too big of a place but always enjoyed the food

Golden Palace Chinese Buffet on Air Depot is closing after 30 plus years. The one on Meridian is staying open

Is Dan's Ol' Time Diner closed for good? Saw a story from Dave Cathey about it being closed, and he wasn't sure.

I read a FB post that the owners were looking for cheaper space to rent; landlord at their prior location had hit them with a huge rent increase they couldn't sustain. Sounds like there *may* be some underlying animosity between the parties. Don't know. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the info, just what was posted.

i remember that something like that happened 3 years ago... i wonder if their lease was up and they were hit with another increase.

i'll try to swing by later today and see if there is a note on the door.

If I remember correctly this scenario has raised it's head a few times with them.

i can confirm that they are closed... there wasn't a note on the door, but it looked like many, if not all, of the tables had been removed from the place.

maybe so... i only remember the one from around 2021 which resulted in the place getting a new vent hood and some cosmetic updates.

This may have been posted elsewhere. They are moving to 10633 S. Western at Westminster Village. They hope to be open by September 15th if not before.

For the record, Deep Deuce Grill is still kicking. That said, R.I.P. Craig Brown. What a character.

    I miss Mutt's the most.

I used to collect the cups too to use when I would invite a crowd over for BBQ.... Think I threw them all away when I moved in with my ex.... Wish I had kept the cups now.

Back Door and Cultivar are the ones I miss most. I did what I could to keep them in business, but evidently I cannot eat enough. Lol.
