Thank you for this shot, Pete. The city needs to do something about this section of the road ASAP.

Is this owned by the same criminals, I mean people, that own Edmond Hyundai? If so, be very careful doing business there and have a good lawyer on stand-by. They literally tried to steal my car while I was on a test drive. Had to get the police involved.

Did they pull the old "misplaced your car keys " scam on you?

This was several years back. I was looking for a new car and decided to look at the Genesis. On a Friday or Saturday (don’t remember), me and a friend went looking at new cars. When we got to Edmond Criminals, I mean Edmond Hyundai, I couldn’t dream of the evil they brought to the table. After the fact, I heard they did this to other people too.

Anyway, I wanted to test drive the Genesis and they agreed. But first, they took us to a room and discussed test driving it over the weekend. We thought that was a cool idea, but asked for some type of document saying that if we returned it Monday morning, we wouldn’t be forced to buy it. They brought of the paperwork, and I signed it (with my friend as a witness). However, they took it before we were able to get a picture of it with my cellphone. We kind of assumed they we would get a copy since they took it right away, but as this was a planned scam, they didn’t provide us a copy. This is a very valuable lesson, always take pictures in situations like this, as this was my biggest mistake (but I would have never imagined a business being this crooked).

So, the car was much bigger/longer than I wanted, so we returned the car well within the allotted time. However, upon getting to the dealership, we noticed that they trapped my car between the building (where I parked) and another one of their cars parked directly behind my car, such that it could not move… they trapped me. Fortunately, I still had my keys (likely my saving grace, or the car would have likely been gone). They tried to convince me that since I kept the car over the weekend, I really bought it. I brought up the document that we signed stating it was a test drive and they claimed they couldn’t find one and denied having one in the first place. I assumed they shredded it before we left on our test drive.

After a couple of hours arguing with them and being threatened since they had my driver’s license and insurance, I called another friend who knew a lot more about the law (he would make an excellent lawyer). When he got there, the scene we made started disturbing other potential victims, I mean customers, so they called the cops. The cops escorted my friend off the property, as they knew he was calling them out as scam artists. After another hour, they finally agreed that I did not buy the car and moved their blocking car so I could leave… after reminding my they are doing me a “favor” and they still had all my information.

While my buying experience wasn't nearly as bad as bamarsha, I will admit they came off pretty sleazy, even compared to Toyota dealers (last recent purchase). It feels like the brand has elevated itself (particularly with Genesis) but the dealers haven't. It will be interesting to see if the Genesis experience is elevated, to equal Lexus etc.

To balance the bad and good “reviews”, since not all dealerships are that bad…

I bought my last two cars from Bob Moore Mazda and they were great. Of course, I took a laptop with a spreadsheet of every fee and cost I could find (including the dealer holdback). I showed them what I though was a fair price (based on KBB, Black Book, etc.) that gave them a fair profit (including my trade-in). We agreed and I had a new car (which means I probably overpaid a little). The second car was the same method. The funny thing, while I forgot names, my first car was bought by a father and my second car from his son that also worked there.

This is why people just want to order cars online. The need to haggle this much is just a waste of time.

I’ve always had excellent service from Bob Moore Mazda. My most recent car purchase was from Volvo. They were pretty good, especially when I informed them I wouldn’t blow them off after test driving a few models. I just needed to find what I liked.

ha I think they were the ones that briefly had an Alfa Romeo dealership and I went to go buy an Alfa, a Giulia and I was just like, f*ck it, we're just going to go buy one, and we had such a stunningly terrible experience that I was like, I would sooner die than ever buy a car from that dealership, it was just so classically slimy and terrible, sales guys were huge pricks, especially to my wife, very weirdly classist and talked down to me even though they were clearly neither that well paid nor knowledgable about the product and the whole experience was just BAD. I'm sort of bummed wwe don't have an alfa dealer anymore because I still will likely buy a Giulia before too long and driving it to Fort Worth or a Dodge / Chrysler dealer sounds awful, but probably not as awful as dealing with them again.

Anecdotally, I bought a 2023 Genesis GV80t from Edmond Hyundai and the process was simple and quick. I knew what I wanted. They had one in stock. I knew the fair value. I paid it.

I didn't have any issues and the experience during my test drive and subsequent visits has been fine.

If I had one criticism it would be that the service area could be much nicer. Hopefully the new standalone Genesis dealership will include it's own service department.

Bamarsha, sucks that you had that experience. I don't think nicknames is an effective way to convince your reader of your lack of bias. Just my 2 cents.

Prior to these dedicated Genesis dealerships, you basically had to deal with Hyundai personnel and service.

These new facilities should mean a completely different experience, from shopping to service. There are certain standards they have to maintain monitored by the national organization.

I recently bought a Genesis (good experience) and it's amazing, especially for the price. Part of the purchase was knowing there would soon be a dedicated dealer for any service issues and the new facility is pretty amazing.

I like the fact you don't see many Genesis vehicles on the road but I'm sure that is going to change, as it's a young brand and this new network of dealerships is going to result in lots more sales.

Lots of Genesis vehicles up here in Edmond. We have one and love it. Bought it at Genesis of Plano.

When you pull out of the parking lot, will there be a sign that says exodus?
