There used to be oklahomarock.com, they went away (but are now back only on social media, apparently, which I don't do, so I can't see what they're like), so I just subscribe to mailing lists for DCF, Criterion, Tower, BCMH, Diamond, Zoo Amp, and maybe a couple of others. Guess I need to see if there's a Scissortail Park email list to get on, that would've been a good show...

The main EDM promoters here, SubSoniX and DiscoDonniePresents, are primarily focused towards dubstep and similar sounds - but have brought house and trance acts through town before on occasion. Fresh Squeeze puts on a few techno and house shows too - roughly 2-3 a year. edmtrain.com is a good place to keep track of shows, they have a section specifically for Oklahoma.

What an incredible resource! It's stupid trying to figure out what's happening in OKC right now without a singular source of info. This guy is really putting in the work compiling this from various sources.

It really shows how much our music scene has grown in the last couple of years. Incredible.

Totally Agree! I was with a few friends last night and we were trying to see what was coming up in September. Told them about this and they loved it. We were at the Sound Bar place above the SAJ restaurant on Auto Alley. If you all are music lovers you should check it out.

Gotcha gotcha - I didn't remember ever seeing the poles before so thought maybe it was some additional lighting or security thing

The poles are definitely new, we noticed them on our walk on Sunday. They have them next to the basketball courts too but I have no idea what they are for.

There is quite a stink around Denver about noise levels from picklball courts with at least 2 very nice court facilities being forced to close and convert to tennis. I don't play so l don't know, but there are apparently those who find the noise level maddening.

I hope they are wind barriers. Pickleball is played with a wiffleball and the wind down at lower Scissortail makes it nearly impossible to play on windy days (ie most days)

i was in denver a few weeks ago when there were several local stories about this. lol. my friends i was staying with happen to be in one of the areas that was complaining. we literally sat outside, and felt that it was no worse than highway traffic in the same area. i think this is really just a case of NIMBY.

It kind of sounds that way to me, too, but l am ignorant on the subject. Deal with homelessness, not pickleball courts.

I'm trying to envision Scissortail Park in 10 years when the trees have grown enough they can have a massive Festival of Lights during the holidays.

Just look north to the Myriad Gardens, as most of their trees and plantings are mature.

This is my first time seeing these old mockups - I know they are currently starting to build a few townhomes to the west of Lower Scissortail, but cool to imagine what a fully developed neighborhood could look like

Thanks for posting that.

It reminded me that I've seen a ton of demo permits and several new home permits in the area in red, although Cusack Meats is still operating and has that fenced-off parking area that is an indent in the park. Some of these lots have been combined but there are still a ton of individual owners.

The area in green is owned by the city and where the OK Humane Society is supposed to build, but I know they are still trying to raise funds.

On the east side of the park, lots of transactions and listings for sale, but really very little action thus far.

I'm a little shocked their hasn't been anything built close to the river on this end. I envision a few medium-sized dense buildings. Maybe in the 8-10 story range with apartment living and retail on the ground. Definitely needs more river interaction. Would hope for something like the Navy Yard on the Potomac in D.C. or even Chattanooga, TN has some great development on their river. (I know we are getting some development with Okana, but not housing.)
