Thread: Who are OKC's "A" List Bloggers?

Default Who are OKC's "A" List Bloggers?

After reading "The New Rules of Viral Marketing" by David Meerman Scott, I have decided to *try* and compile a list of "A-List Bloggers" in Oklahoma City. I have an idea who a few are, but anyone want to add some suggestions to my list? I am familiar with the Okie Blog Awards where I've found many good blogs, but just wanting a sound off from OKCTALK.

Here is the link to Scott's e-book if you are interested.

I'd have to say our own Doug!! His passion for OKC is probably the best local blog there is. I used to have one with a decent following, but I quit doing it since I don't have the time. There are a few others out there that get a pretty loyal following, but they usually are promoting some agenda (right or left wing).

One of my favorite Oklahoma (but not OKC) blogs: Yet Another Small Town Moment

  4. Default Re: Who are OKC's "A" List Bloggers?

    Doug is #1 for sure!

    Thanks, guys.

Two that come quickly to mind and regularly win prizes for quite a long time (and deservedly so) are:

    Dustbury: dustbury.com
OkieDoke: Okiedoke - Vintage Okie opinion

An up-and-commer is the Lost Ogle: The Lost Ogle » Our Three Cents… (witty adult humor ... their little series on Cardboard Jim (Traber) is pretty clever)

It just depends on what you'e looking for. Mine is largely an article-driven blog with a particular focus (but broad enough that Okc "history" is deemed by me to include NBA stuff) that only generates a post or so a week (if that) ... these guys are far more prolific.

    Doug Dawg - No question

Runner Up - Adam Knapp (anytime I need info on OK, I look him up)

    Adam's Oklahoma City Blog

Well, I guess that I wasn't thinking of Adam's stuff as a "blog" ... I typically go to Oklahoma City - Guide to the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area and never noticed his blog! Bad Dawg! It definitely belongs on the "A" list.

Another great Okc oriented blog ... special purpose ... photography, much with an Okc Focus, and great camera work: Jason Bondy's Jason's Photo Blog ... three recent examples:

Jason is a heck of a photographer and choses interesting, very often unusual, subjects.

Jen, although probably not what you're looking for, probably the most followed and internationally recognized (from OKC area) is pastor Craig Groechel's of Oklahoma's own lifechurch.tv. His blog is called Swerve.

Certainly correct. Jim's blog has received excellent national attention and awards.

The irreverent humor at this blog site is pretty much great:

I love Jason's blog. I have a few in my list of favorites I hit about once a week. I really like BlogOklahoma.us. The Lost Ogle has its following, but it seems all too weird to be coming from someone older than about 23. Besides, I was never too fond of Tony's conviction for drug dealing in the past. He apparently sold to younger folk.

Yes - I'm a fan of Doug's blog!! Never heard of Jason's, so that's good to know. Actually, Rochelle's blog is *exactly* what I'm looking for. I have been studying a white paper, "Distributed Influence: Quantifying the Impact of Social Media" by Jonny Bentwood. I want to I.D. the upstart "meme starters" and "meme spreaders" -- According to the paper, the starter -- "This person typically is creative, forms opinions and articulates them well."

The meme spreader: "This person thrives by sharing opinions and wants to do it first. They are trusted and have a large readership."

Welcome to the "me 2 revolution" where everyone has a voice. This voice is articulated through social media and "can be extremely powerful."

Heady PR stuff, but I'm trudging through it so at 40, I am keeping up with changes in the discipline.

    Thanks for the input.

Jen, who is Rochelle? Did you mean Craig Groechel? If so, you may want to read his blog on top blogging tips and how to gain a wide audience. Whether you like the man or not and agree with his teachings, he does have a large influence and has been successful in doing it. I highly recommend that post for all you bloggers out there. I'll see if I can find the link.

    Ahh, here it is:

Ok - I feel like a complete idiot for getting his name wrong. As *if* his blog didn't make national news. (Liked that story a great deal.) So, yes, I meant Groechel.

Anyway, I've turned up something interesting. It is a Web site (Blognetnews.com » Oklahoma » Influence Index) that offers rankings on Oklahoma's most influential political blogs. They list the top 20 and there are some familiar names on the list; however, I argue that they aren't all "political blogs" as BNN reports.

Also, someone that I think is an influential blogger is Jean Warner. Her blog address is Oklahoma Women's Network Blog. She is a really great blogger. I find many interesting resources here and it's updated quite regularly.

I don't know that I would consider myself an A list blogger, but I just got mine up and going. Just posted a few thoughts on the Sonics, and I do plan to post regularly and with a local focus. Rss is enabled on my site. Hope you enjoy!
