Is the Reuben a real Reuben or just a sandwich with corned beef or pastrami? Like the Philly, there are many faux Reubens out there.

Not sure as I don't know the difference (not a corned beef fan). But it was corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss and mustard on marble rye like the menu says. Not sure if that helps or not.

Traditional should have Russian or thousand island dressing, not mustard, but some like spiced mustard. And regular rye bread, though marble rye is sometimes used. The sauerkraut quality certainly makes a difference... real German sauerkraut, not out of a can. And quality swiss cheese. And, it needs to be toasted just right. But the star is the corned beef and not all is the same. LOTS of corned beef.

This is my standard... Katz Deli in NYC.
