XFL franchises are relatively inexpensive IMO with a $15 million franchise fee and judging by the attendance in many of the XFL markets passed up by the NFL or over-saturated--Oklahoma City or Tulsa may be an alternate market to consider.

My observation, the XFL wants to get in MSA with 2 million minimum population. The Oklahoma City MSA which now boast 1,475,313 (State 4.4 million) would be a good market for an XFL franchise in a traditional rick football state like Oklahoma.

Since the return of USL soccer seems bleak, Oklahoma City should 'consider' the MAPS 4 ($42 million budget) Multipurpose Stadium to be expanded to 20,000. This IMO would open more opportunities for a city stadium to be used as a multipurpose stadium.

"Naming Rights' could fund the expansion from 8,000 to 20,000 seats for future soccer and American Football events.

They should scratch that stadium and allocate the money to a new Thunder arena and mixed use district.

Don’t see folks supporting the XFL. Attendance would not be very good, imo.

I could too. There's quite a few such players that fit that bill that don't make it in the NFL. We would definitely go.

I'm taken back by seeing Oklahoma City mentioned as an XFL future site;

Four possible locations were listed as potential expansion sites. Those include:

Nashville, Tennessee
Portland, Oregon
Charlotte, North Carolina
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Didn't like the mention of Taft Stadium (7,500 seats) as a future site--because of its location. Chad Richison Stadium (UCO campus) which seats 12,500 would be a good venue for an XFL franchise to start out or the lower bowl of Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium (65,000) might peak more interests. Who knows, the two leagues are struggling for now and may be part of a future merger.





The MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium which the OKC Energy ownership group has put their franchise on ice for now, were allowed to select the lowest among the four stadium choices. Don't see USL returning to OKC anytime soon (too many excuses), beside IMO they would kill soccer's future in our city just based on their track record.

A larger 20k venue would be attractive to USFL-XFL American Football.



Hope the city decides to build a larger 20,000 seat stadium instead of an 8,000 seat venue--the Multipurpose Stadium is scheduled to begin construction in 2025. The Chickasaw Tribe wants the stadium near the FAM museum and OKANA Resort.

This would be the best time for Oklahoma City or Tulsa to get an XFL-USFL franchise. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa seats 30,000; Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium can accommodate 60,000 - 65,000 seats in the lower bowl. Chad Richison Stadium (UCO Campus) accommodates 12,000.

Most XFL-USFL franchises play in stadiums seating around 20,000 or more. Memphis, a city with almost identical demographics as
Oklahoma City, both support NBA franchises and NCAA Division I football. USFL Memphis Showboats averaged around 12,000-15,000
per game which seems to be close to break-even for USFL and XFL franchises.
