Stoked about the FB. Been looking at that thing for over a decade now waiting for them to finish it.

My last trip I checked out both Circa and Resorts World. I loved Circa. 8 East Restaurant is legit (eating there this next Wed night). I was less than impressed with Resorts World. It was nice and all but nothing really made it stand out to me to really want to go back. and it's UGLY!

They are finishing the Fountainebleau. The building was erected and construction stopped in 2009, when is was about 75% completed.

Amazing. It was originally going to be a FB, went through 3-4 different iterations back to FB

I was out there for a convention recently and tried the Tesla tunnel that runs from the convention center to Resorts World, the tunnels are also known as the Vegas Loop. They still had drivers for each vehicle, and our driver mentioned that there are plans to expand completely down the strip.

While there was a cool factor, it didn't seem to be nearly as efficient as the existing monorail in moving large groups of people. Each vehicle can hold 3 passengers, and you had to wait for cars at each station to load/unload and there was a time we had to continue in the tunnel and loop back around because there was no unloading spots open at the queue station.

Anyone else who has traveled out there have thoughts?

Can’t speak to that but I wish they’d build subterranean heavy rail from the airport to downtown. I think it would be extremely popular and should be free to use.

Thankfully they’ll be widening the 515 by a large amount and it’ll be remembered I-11. Great stuff happening. If you’re driving be sure to prepare for the Tropicana/15 project. It’s a f@cking bitch. Down to two lanes.

PS, would you recommend a Tesla? I’m going to get an EV for the city but I’m torn between a mini EV and tesla. I’d like a Hummer or Lucid but too expensive.

There was. plan at one time to connect the existing monorail on the east side of the strip to the airport and to downtown. Neither have happened, and the speculation is the cab driver/taxi unions have been able to lobby against it since those two routes probably account for the biggest profits annually. With the rise of Uber/Lyft and its popularity, especially with the younger demographic, I am not sure the taxi union in Vegas is as powerful as it once was, but to no avail, you still have to take a car to and from the airport and from Fremont.

With the rise of Allegiant Stadium, T-Mobile Arena, and the tentative MLB stadium just north of Allegiant Stadium, you would hope for a push to easily move people from the strip to those locations. T-Mobile luckily is in walking distance wedged between NYNY and ParkMGM/Aria.

At one time there was a plan to take the Mandalay Bay/Luxor/Excalibur tram and somehow have it go across the interstate to the Raider's stadium. Not sure if that plan got off the ground.

Yeah I’ve heard that. PS just in case anyone hasn’t experienced Fremont it’s easily a vacation all on its own. And rent a car in Vegas. Go to Boulder city, red rocks, Mt. Charleston, Valley of Fire sp… rent a sports car preferably something fast. Not much highway patrol in valley of fire you can unwind and have fun. Vegas is one of my favorite places. Just can’t beat it. I’m here now and even off the strip there is amazing food. I love this town.

The monorail is terribly inefficient. It usually takes forever to walk to from the hotels so by the time you are there you could have already been in a cab/uber and be on your way.

Is there another city with professional sports teams where all three majors venues are literally within a square mile of each other?

TMobile Arena - NHL
Allegiant Stadium - NFL
A's Stadium - MLB

While I understand the benefit to having the strip and hotels across the interstate, especially for pulling in visiting team fans, I do wonder if the 80+ games in MLB will have a consistent impact on rates at the hotels nearby? When we traveled out to Vegas, it was always easy to see when Golden Knights and Raiders games were, because rates would jump much higher for those nights, especially on south strip by MGM Grand and NYNY.

If (when) Las Vegas gets a NBA franchise, I imagine there would be high interest of Thunder fans to plan trips around games at TMobile Arena in addition to their vacation.

Cincinnati has baseball, football, and hockey all right next to each other. MLS is on the other side of downtown.

Ford Field, Comerica Park, and Little Caesars Arena in Detroit are all extremely close to each other. Philadelphia also has Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, and the Wells Fargo Center right in the same complex.

At one point, Seattle had a proposal to build an NBA/NHL arena just south of Safeco Field (Mariners) which is also located immediately south of CenturyLink Field (Seahawks/Sounders). Assuming the Kraken still came into existence and the SuperSonics eventually come back, all four of the major sports leagues plus an MLS team would’ve operated on three blocks being separated only by parking and a single active street between them.

Side note, I visited Seattle last April and was super impressed with the renovated Climate Pledge Arena. Very rare to see a stadium that doesn't overshadow its surroundings, but I thought that this one fit in perfectly with the rest of the Seattle Center complex. I would like to visit Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City someday for the same reason - that one looks like an old middle school from the outside even though it seats 15,000 people.

I actually just got back from a quick Vegas weekend. I stopped by the Tropicana just to see it before it goes away and was surprised by how TINY the casino was. It's like a quarter the size of the typical strip casino. The towers look pretty bleak from the outside at this point - obviously not trying to keep up appearances anymore. The inside is clean and looks pretty classic still though. Not surprised at all that this was an easy target for demolition - there's not even any room inside to remodel it to add stuff very easily.

Vegas is so weird development wise. Right across the strip from the massive Cosmo/Aria/Waldorf complex they are building low-rise commercial instead of another Casino or resort like you'd expect. Should be nice, but you wonder why they aren't building more towers on the several high profile open spots on the strip. Still seems to be plenty of demand for more rooms! I stayed at the Mirage (wanted to see it before the conversion) and it was booked solid this weekend.

Strip can't adsorb that much that fast. Fountaienbleu coming up later this year too on the heels of resorts world.

The Bellagio is planning an expansion with more shops and retail replacing that very long pedestrian bridge on the northwest part of their property. This comes after they’ve renovated multiple parts of the hotels and changed up some of their rooms into suites.
