As this becomes more and more visible from I-40, people who don't keep up with current events are going to be quite curious

That was quick. Now they're working on the 4th floor--with 7 floors to go, thanks for the update pic Pete.

It will be like 10 years ago when people were wondering what was happening with the huge mound of dirt on the east side of I-35, just south of I-40. I swear, once a week a new thread would be started about that.

It will probably be one floor per week once they hit their rhythm.

Especially if the structure of those upper floors are copy and paste

We want a 'quality resort' that isn't rushed to the finish line. The construction costs ballooned (25% inflation) from $300 million to $400 million for this 404 room, 11 floor resort and indoor water park with a lagoon.

OKANA & FAM much like the ROTHER SHRINE is expected to attract tourist to OKC as a world class destinations. The resort construction will take time as will road infrastructure serving the two projects.

Looks like they poured one half of the 5th level of the hotel this morning. Speeding along, even through the recent weather.

Should start seeing a lot of digging here soon for the lagoon and all the other various waterpark pools. There are about 8 pool permits out there. The waterpark is huge when you add the outdoor activities.

I take it some of these foundations will be for the water rides as well?

In the foreground in the photo above, that will be the indoor waterpark.

Wow. I had forgotten Benchmark will be managing this property.
    Talk about first class!

Jeez the waterpark is 100,000 square feet? That's 25% bigger than Great Wolf Lodge down in Dallas. Talk about a massive draw, wow.

If this kills it, I hope they have worked on plans for an additional hotel tower. I bet this could easily justify needing more within a couple years of opening. I hope the Onmi is doing the same, but for the sake of staying on topic, I hope the Chickasaws are planning for that possibility.

Does this put the nail in the coffin for White Water/Hurricane Harbor?

If Great Wolf Lodge prices are any indication you can go to Hurricane Harbor for the entire season cheaper than a single summer Saturday here. However, if you want to go water sliding in January, this will be the only game in town...or drive to Clinton.

I think this puts a White Water/Hurricane Harbor out of business within a couple years. I really don't understand how they are still open. Most suburban communities have their own waterpark, that is better than driving to OKC and dealing with the crowd and old slides. Also it is much cheaper, and just as fun.

Moore: The Station Moore Aquatic Center
    Edmond: Pelican Bay Aquatic Center
    Norman: Westwood Family Aquatic Center
    SW OKC: Earlywine Aquatic Center

These are something you can go to 2-3 times a week. As most tickets are no more than $10.

OKANA is going to be programmed more as a tourist attraction, and maybe will be a once a season go for locals in the Summer and Winter.

OKANA should just go all-out and build a "Frontier City Killer" type of amusement park while they're at it.

    Only half-joking.

a full season pass to https://www.sixflags.com/frontiercity/store/tickets Unlimited visits to Six Flags Frontier City and Hurricane Harbor OKC is under 70 bucks ..

1 day at OKANA is going to be more then that ... Great wolf day pass is 70 on a summer weekday over 100 on a summer weekend ..

At this point its pure speculation, we don't know what the prices will be. But programming for OKANA will be for a full experience, its a resort not a water park. But I am sure they will have day passes for the indoor/outdoor water park. We went to the the Epic Indoor Waterpark in Grand Prairie, TX, and a day pass was $50-$60 bucks a person, it was still packed. I just don't see White Water hanging one too much longer, too many more options around the city to "get wet". And OKANA will just add another new fresh option.

No one will get to Hurricane Harbor because of the crowds is something Yogi Berra would have said.
