Default Lawmaker wants voters to make it harder to pass state questions

"Senate Joint Resolution 5, filed by Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, would ask voters to amend the Oklahoma Constitution to allow state questions to be on ballots in only odd numbered years.

Also, a state question or constitutional amendment that would remove any rights of state residents would be required to pass by a majority of electors in the state as well as by a majority of electors in at least two-thirds of the state’s 77 counties, according to Senate Joint Resolution 5."

This is such a blatant power grab by the legislature. Why should someone living in OKC/Tulsa's vote matter less than someone in the middle of rural Oklahoma? Really hope this gets shot down.

They're all still butt hurt that we passed the mary jane law. They want to try to force us to ignore that we have the right to overrule their stupidity at times. Lord knows nothing is happening at the state level just like the national level. If this many people across the state feel like it's needed, then there needs to be this fair way to tell the state legislature to piss off. And also a way to prevent them from just passing a law the next day to counter it.

Their little opinions and personal egos are not to be considered. Get off it.
