But it has been several months, so I was ready to get my KFC fix. Tried K-Chick a month or so ago and I thought the wings were great. They were actually huge! Breading was pretty thin but still very crispy. Tried a few different flavors and was happy with all except the original crispy. Felt it was just a little bland. Overall, we were very happy with our food.
Went to BB-Q a few days ago after reading corwin's disappointing review. I was worried that Oklahomans might've screwed up a pretty popular and delicious chain. Well, I had a completely opposite experience. I thought the food was amazing as my previous experiences. Will agree that there is much more breading on their wings compared to K-Chick, but I actually like that. I love how crunchy the wings are even if they're doused in a sauce. There's definitely more meat on K-Chick wings but BB-Q wings were still of substantial size. Always significantly larger than your typical wing place like Wingstop or BWW. Tried a few flavors and the only one we weren't happy with was one we never tried, the Cheeseling. Heard that Koreans love it, so we gave it a shot. Wasn't terrible but will definitely be the last time we order it.
To summarize, I think there's room for both places. I think BB-Q has more flavors to choose from and I actually thought it was slightly cheaper than K-Chick. It's been a while since K-Chick, so I can't confirm the prices, and I'm too lazy to look it up. They're just slightly different from one another, and I think they'll both do really well. And from the traffic that I saw on random weeknights, I think they'll be fine. I just wish one would open further south, so we don't have to drive so far for KFC. The only other noticeable difference was that I thought the pickled radish at BB-Q had more flavor/sourness to it. Slight lean to BB-Q but I'll definitely go to K-Chick again. If anyone here hasn't tried KFC (Korean Fried Chicken), you need to go check either of these places out. In fact, you might not feel the same about regular wings ever again. I still love traditional buffalo wings from Wingstop, but I'll take KFC 10 out of 10 times.
