Someone posted on NextDoor that the Freddie's on N May in the Lakeside Center had closed.

Looks like Earl's in Lower Bricktown has closed.

Heard it had and that location has been removed from their website.

That's too bad. My daughter and have started going there occasionally for a special treat.

Wow! I used to eat there A LOT when I worked at the theatre, so I'm kind of nostalgically sad that its gone. Hope something good fills that spot.

    That is a bad surprise.
Solid BBQ I thought and always fairly busy.
I was not going very frequently through my downtown lunch break rotation, but I think it is a loss.

Captain Pasta in Edmond east of Santa Fe on 2nd Street had a sign on the window "closed until further notice." I was going into the record store next door and saw the sign. I don't think it's been open long.

Their concept was bad. Carry out spaghetti and meatball with garlic bread for $15? Domino's can undercut that. Hell, box of Barilla and jar of Ragu can undercut that and look better than the food photos their website had.

Sorry for the diversion, but if that's the Dachshund record store, does he still alphabetize them by first name?

    Yes.

For those who never got to eat at Claud's Hamburgers, Ron Terrell and Danny Boy O'Connor featured the restaurant in their series documenting Tulsa burger joints.

I saw a post on the Edmond Foodies FB Page (that is now deleted) from the owners that they had a family emergency and were looking to sell. It stated that from August 9 -Oct 9th that their Net Sales were $29k (not bad!) and were wanting to sell it for $60k.

Sounds like we might be in the minority, but I thought the concept was pretty cool. We tried it a few times and thought it was really good, hopefully, they find new owners!

I think Earls in general has been struggling the last few years. They closed the Moore location a year or two ago, and the last time we went to Bricktown it was only meh. The location on Reno east of Meridian looks like a perpetual ghost town.

Not sure what's up with them but things aren't good.

Cornish Smokehouse at SW 119th and Western has closed, with the owners shifting emphasis to the new Cornish Jerk House on the far north side. This wasn't totally surprising, as they had reduced operations to two days a week some time ago.

Good place, generous portions, sorry to see them go.

Unless something changed, their Facebook post from earlier today says they are just closed this week and will reopen Nov 2.

When I drove by the store and read the note taped to the front door, it said "Please visit us now at Cornish Jerk Grill at (new address)". There were stacked chairs, ladders in position to continue what appeared to me to be teardown work, and every visible indication to me they were no longer in operation. Wev eaten there a few times and their open hours have been consistently shrinking. Perhaps they've changed their mind.

I just looked on their FB page and they clearly state they decided to close in September. The post you reference about reopening relates to their new Jerkhouse location in NW OKC.

We went to Earl's in Yukon late August and we were the only ones there when we arrived around 5:00. You order your food at the counter now and the manager brought it to our table. When I asked what happened to the waiters that used to take your order at the table he said they just can't get enough people to work there. It looked like just the manager and 2 other people working behind the counter. During our time there we saw 4 other people come in to eat.

I used to tell people for decades that Earl's cheddar burger was the best burger in OKC. It used to be a huge slab of meat with a ton of cheese on it and it was SO good. But I can't say that anymore. The last two-three times I've been, it's just been "decent," smaller, and a lot more expensive. There are just too many great burger options now for "decent" to be enough. Especially when I'm charged more for a disappointing meal.

We noticed their price increases too. Most of their entrees that used to be $11-$12 are now $17-$19. But what isn't more expensive in the last couple of years.

Wow. Reading that post makes you wonder what the heck was going on over there. I knew they had a fire but hadn't heard any of the ither allegations contained in the post.
