There is actually the first (and only) debate between Joy Hofmeister and Kevin Stitt tonight at 5:30PM.

It will be livestreamed on News9's Facebook page and website, CSPAN, and NonDoc's Facebook page.

Thank you. However in checking the channel guide there is no listing for this on any of the C SPAN outlets. Hopefully 9 will have it outside of FB. As someone who takes issue with the FB business model I never signed up for an account there. It is a shame that our debates are not readily available to all voters.

Guess some posts were deleted. As for why its not televised locally, Joy claims because Stitt wouldnt agree to it. Thats the source.

the youtube video is almost unwatchable since the feed cut out several times throughout the debate. it's really disappointing that we couldn't get this right, both for the value to voters and for the state's image in a national broadcast.

Storme Jones did say they're working on getting a full video uploaded that won't have any of those technical glitches. Not sure if it's been posted yet.

I thought Savage was embarrassingly bad. I got the sense that he likes to party more than he should?

Joy landed a few really nice one liners (“We can’t even trust you with barbecue!”).

Thought Stitt was pretty robotic although the performance was consistent.

Stitt tried to play the role of an overconfident bully. My favorite was when he was scoffing at Joy for stating (correctly) that the murder rate for Oklahoma is far higher than California or New York. Stitt was completely unprepared.

She blew him up so bad on the tribal issue that he sent out an invitation to meet with all of the tribes the next day. A couple of weeks before the election seems a little late in the game to attempt to look like you care about relations with the native nations.

Again, unbelievably stupid considering that Stitt would not hesitate to give all kinds of attention to your Panasonics, Canoos, etc., when one of your largest employers and most important monied interests are already here and willing to work with him.

There has been no invitation to meet with Gov Stitt and there is no meeting scheduled. That Gov Stitt thinks he can command tribal leaders to his office by simply declaring it on live television speaks volumes of why has had been a failure at state / tribal relations.

Was it Murder Rate specifically? I thought the term used was violent crime. If it was violent crime then that includes way more than homicides so let's compare all violent crime. . Even this WaP article said it was violent crime rate then goes on to only compare murder rate only.

I sure don't know what the Tribes have to complain about. They've got the casino business pretty much wrapped up, and they're hauling in huge amounts of money. The Feds supply much support and all in all they seem to be in good shape. I wonder what more they want? I've worked with them on many projects and they seem pretty conservative.

they have been trying to work with the governor to resolve the issues brought up after the mcgirt case, and nothing has happened. They want a better understanding and agreement in how things work in a post McGirt world.

i think 99% of what they want is related to that. how will the tribes and the State work together going forward. and the current Governor has made it clear that the state just won't work with them.

in that other 1%. maybe getting sports betting in the compact, but honestly, probably not that much else right now.

Stitt had argued that the 15-year compacts expired on Jan. 1st, which would have made it illegal for tribes to continue offering Las Vegas-style Class III gambling unless they renegotiated new deals. Stitt wants the tribes to agree to pay the state more in exclusivity fees.

I can see that, also the Mcgrit deal. I thought that had been settled. I've been in many casino's and I'm thinking the las vegas style machines occupy only a small portion of the total number of machines available. It probably wouldn't hurt their bottom line much to re-negotiate that portion of the business. They're lucky someone doesn't come up with a petition to allow las vegas style casinos statewide....now THAT would hurt them.

They wanted to keep the same deal precisely because it was better than what Stitt wanted to force them into accepting, i.e. higher fees.

When the courts threw out Stitt's attempt to rescind the renewal, instead of accepting that he had been in the wrong he continued to claim the tribes were unfairly taking advantage even though it was ruled their contract was completely legitimate. And his dealings with them just got worse from there.

A real political head scratcher to go head-to-head with the Native Americans. They bring so much positive impact to the state, and I feel their loyalty will always be with their own people rather than the interests of the State or the US Government. Keep that relationship positive and collaborative, not combative. I just don’t get the strategy on his part. That might be the blunder that brings him down, I think the rest of the issues are hit or miss with the average Oklahoman — but not tribal relations. Those scars can be deep.
