Well could certainly completely transform Ardmore:

“ ARDMORE — When the Chickasaw Nation bought 160 acres of land near a decommissioned military airport north of town, tribal leaders recognized the potential of an industrial site halfway between Oklahoma City and Dallas.

Years later, on Wednesday, the tribe and others announced a joint $124 million project to turn the rural land into an air, rail and ground shipping hub.

Tribal leaders, city officials and business executives envision a distribution, storage and manufacturing zone that will bring thousands of jobs to southern Oklahoma and cut heavy traffic on highways between two of the region’s largest cities.”

Ardmore has had quite a bit of success with the development up at the airpark, it's nice to see that continuing.

I really hope Ardmore keeps up the little bit of momentum they have and grow it. They should form a comprehensive plan for their downtown and capitalize from their Amtrak station. Davis and Sulphur should market themselves more. Thackerville really should do all it can to make itself the Vegas on the prairie. Lots of potential along I-35 in southern Oklahoma.

Regarding Thackerville, they really should build an artificial ski resort bigger than the one in the UAE. I believe Dallas had one planned and fell through. Massive costs to build and maintain, maybe the state of Oklahoma could pitch in. It would be a huge draw. Imagine driving to Thackerville any time of the year for a weekend ski trip.

Plu Pan beat me to it. I'd really love to see this airport upgrade be part of turn Ardmore into the city it should be and help spawn economic development between OKC and DFW. Help fill the void.

Little bit of momentum? I'm guessing none of you have been in downtown Ardmore in over a decade.

They have a thriving downtown that improves every year as well as a very active arts and music scene.

About the only negatives about Ardmore right now is that it's the epicenter of the drug trafficking because it sits between Dallas and OKC.

I’m really not too familiar with downtown. Glad to hear there is a lot going on.

Have you heard anything about a hotel downtown? I’m thinking of taking a 2 day trip via Amtrak to Ardmore but I don’t want a hotel outside of downtown.

I grew up in Ardmore and visit there frequently and I cannot think of a downtown hotel. The closest would be the Chief Motel on 77 and they still advertise having color tv and HBO.

I couldn't remember anything either, I checked Google and there's nothing listed near downtown Ardmore. Maybe Airbnb but unless I am searching wrong I don't see anything close by there either.

I know there are several loft apartments downtown but I can't think of any lodging downtown off the top of my head and don't see any on Google.... But since I already have a cabin NW of Ardmore I've never looked for any lodging downtown.

But honestly if I was going to spend a weekend in Ardmore I'd probably look at renting one of the floating cabins out at Lake Murray or see if there are any AirBnB's off McLish Ave SW or Bixby Ave SW. There are some really nice homes in that area and it's close to downtown.

Anyone know anything about the big apartment complex going up near the corner of Veterans Blvd and Mt Washington Rd? I drove by it when I was down in Ardmore over the holidays and was quite surprised by the scale of it. Street view has it as of the November 2021 data update.

Skydweller Aero Inc. has opened its international headquarters in Oklahoma City and based its manufacturing plant and testing facility in Ardmore as well.

I poked around a bit more in street view and found the sign with the name of those apartments, The Preserve at Ardmore.

https://www.snydercg.com/projects/th...rve-apartments - The general contractor, slightly messed up info since it talks about the Ardmore location but also has details about a development of the same name in Branson, MO.

The companies and businesses located at the Ardmore Industrial Airpark are an integral part to the city's current and continued success, and the aviation industry is a crucial component of many of these businesses — businesses already in place and businesses coming in the future. On Thursday morning the community gathered at SouthernTech for a groundbreaking ceremony of the new aviation technology building to take a step forward in building that future. Once complete, students who will be educated in the facility will learn how to build and repair aircraft.

Regional airport awarded a multimillion dollar grant:

The Commission approved a state loan for a project identified in the Commission’s approved ACP at Ardmore Municipal Airport. The project will construct a 120’x120’ box hangar that will be used to house the airport’s growing customer base for the storage of aircraft, space for small aviation businesses and a flight school. The total project cost is $2,168,000 and will be funded with $600,000 of state funds from the Commission and $1,568,000 of sponsor matching funds provided by the airport.
