Bricktown3 The Clove (formerly Ragin Cajun)

    Good afternoon,

I just saw there is a restaurant named "Ragin cajun OKC" opening tomorrow in the former spot of Sussy, by Starbucks, in Bricktown.

I dont know the concept but it seems there is already one in Yukon,

    Yes, they open tomorrow, 9/2.

It doesn't look like they changed much from when it was Sussy's, but it was already great space. They have also signed a lease at Crossroads.

    It's primarily a seafood restaurant:

The family that runs Ragin Cajun is African American.

They posted that they completely sold out of food this past weekend.

    Good for them.

They’ve closed their Yukon location already.

That was always the plan -- to move the Yukon place to their new location.

Not sure of the timing of their 2nd location inside Crossroads Mall.

I believe it was around 15th and Hwy 4 (Mustang Rd).

Has anybody eaten at one of their locations?

I don't know if all locations are owned/operated/franchised by the same 'Ragin Cajun' chain, but it's been mediocre at the ones I've visited (Houston area). They may have gotten better over the years, but it's eye-wateringly expensive for what it is. They used to pour seasoning on their boiled crawfish after it was boiled (big no-no), and there's not much transparency regarding where they source their seafood from. If it's imported the prices are even more unreasonable. You'd figure the Bricktown area was already saturated with overpriced seafood restaurants.

This just seems like one of those locations that does not work, hope they have better luck.

I do think there are some logistical challenges to getting the masses already in Bricktown to cross Reno and go into Lower Bricktown. That said, the longtime former #1 Fuzzy’s in the entire chain is 100’ across the plaza, plus a high-performing Texadelphia and high-performing Starbucks in the same building.

I have opinions on all of the concepts that have come and gone from the Centennial. I have backstories on each of them, but I’ll be keeping those to myself. Suffice to say that in every case it was either the concept or the operator. Or both. The location is not the issue.

I'm curious how you find, if you can divulge, for example, that Fuzzy's is their #1 store (and the other restaurants)?

I’ve known the owners of Fuzzy’s and (formerly) Texadelphia since start-up and we’ve discussed it in the past. Also in the case of both places and of Starbucks, I have eyes. And I’m in all of those places pretty often, and have been for 15+ years. They’re all high-performing.

I remember going to Texadelphia before my first Thunder game. I was in middle school. Now I'm in my 30s.

It's wildly impressive how they've been doing well for so long. I'm sure there are so many things that go into it but it seems that some operators are just better at running restaurants/businesses than others.

I like the addition of a new cuisine offering, Indian and Himalayan into Bricktown (which normally has been primarily TexMexican and Cajun focused).

I truly wish this a success and hope for other cuisine offerings into the city core.

Went for lunch for second time yesterday. Has not been busy either time so I hope they are getting a crowd at night. They have added a $12 Big Plate lunch special. It is the perfect size and price for a nice lunch without breaking the bank. We started with chicken egg rolls that were fantastic. Crispy and light, My friend had chicken biryani. He said the spices were on point and that it may be the best he has had in the OKC area. Had large pieces of chicken in it and portion size was more than enough that he had enough leftover for dinner. I had the platter with the chicken curry and chicken tikka marsala. The tikka marsala was on the buttery side. Both had great spice and was very filling. The rice was very flavorful. I wish they had option of garlic naan instead of regular naan as I have had it on previous trip and was very good. (I did not ask for it so not sure if option)

Service is very polite. It is a casual pace. No tea (ice or hot) available and did not see any alcohol options on menu nor are there any liquor bottles at the bar (the previous picture of the bar is not what it looks like now....the shelves are used for water glass storage and the wine racks are empty). Not sure if they have or are getting a liquor license. Both times we were able to immediately find free parking in the attached parking lot on west side.

Nice addition to Bricktown and hopefully they pick up and stay busy.
