Is this the mini motorcycle group or a different group?

I’m not sure. This was probably half 4-wheel ATVs and half dirt bikes. They were doing wheelies and generally acting like they owned the road. It was a huge group. Mostly didn’t look legal, especially running through red lights.

I lived and worked downtown for several years, this happens every now and then in the nicer weather. It is mostly harmless, but definitely very annoying.

Street takeovers are a trend and becoming a problem nationwide. It's a motorcycle subcultural thing; usually sport bikes and/or dirt bikes and/or ATVs. You can find all sorts of videos on YouTube and other video platforms. Gives other motorcyclists a bad name.

I remember in the 90's the powers that be would get their dander up when Critical Mass cyclists would ride en mass on various streets once a month. The purpose was to reclaim the streets from motorized vehicles.

That still happens but isn't generally dangerous to the cars.

That was the former Goodwill property.

Fred Mazaheri (who was awarded the property after a legal battle with the city regarding an eminent domain action for land he owned on the site of what became Scissortail Park) was to submit development plans by the end of 2020 and start work no later than June 2023.

I reached out to the city to get an update and will post on the thread for that project when I know more:

A nice set of apartments on that lot would be a huge win for the continued success of the park.

I think the first major housing/ mixed used project should be along the lower half to jump start the area's revitalization.

The new south park is looking great! I'm a little surprised they didn't redo the roads when they added the parking spots along the roads. Glad to see this area coming together!

They didn't re-do Robinson by the upper park until after the upper park was open.

Oklahoma City arts community mourns death of city planner Robbie Kienzle
    https://www.oklahoman.com/story/news...ty/7694033001/

The Oklahoma City Arts Commission is hoping to dedicate one of the last projects guided by Kienzle to her memory. Allison Bailey, chair of the commission, said the city council will be asked to approve adding a dedication to Kienzle with the installation this fall of Taking Flight: Light as a Feather at Scissortail Park.

The 31-foot-high, 14,000-pound sculpture will resemble a feather floating to the ground, consisting of 276 integrated fiber optics with LED lamps evenly spread throughout the sculpture.

    This breaks my heart.

Robbie Kienzle was one of the nicest people around and she had a lot to do with all the great public art in OKC.

    RIP Robbie.

Give the city credit. They timed the park completion with 2017 Better Streets Bonds.
