Dear Humble Pie/The Heat Family,
Some of you have already heard that we are closing our doors. NYE (12/31/2021) will be our last day. We have so loved getting to know so many of you over the years and will miss all of you. Many of you have gotten to watch our family grow and our kids grow up and we’ve decided that we need to spend more time with them before they’re grown and gone. We appreciate each and every one of you that have supported us over the last 13 years. Please be aware that due to the pandemic we have been extremely short staffed. As a result, service and bake times will likely take quite a bit longer these last two nights. Thanks for your understanding.
Have a Happy New Year!
With love from The Heard Family
That really sucks. Love that place.
dang. which i had known. i would have made it by there. hadn't gone inside since the pandemic, but had ordered togo a few times.
Unfortunately they did.... We sat through an almost 2 hour wait to get one last Chicago style Confused Crust to go from them the night before they closed.
On the plus side.... I've heard that an employee might be taking over and reopening the place.
We went a lot when it was Humble Pie, but thought it closed and turned into some sort of smoke shop? Wow, totally didn't know it was just a name change. Would have certainly gone had we realized that! It did have some of the best pizza.
that stinks... most important question, is there anywhere else in okc that serves chicago deep dish?
Definitely feels like there’s enough of a market in this city to support at least once place that specializes in Chicago-style
I hate the term "Chicago style" - too much room for interpretation. Looking for Deep Dish Pizza. Period. Humble Pie was decent but small pizzas at a high price. Hard to believe you can't get deep dish pizza in OKC....
Chicago Style = Deep Dish
Only room for interpretation is what toppings you put on it.
Hey, them's fightin' words!
In all seriousness, The Heat/Humble Pie will be SORELY missed and I'm very sad to see them go. I didn't hear about the closing night or else I would totally have been there. I hope that perhaps one of the other purveyors of Chicago foodstuffs in town might be able to take up the deep-dish pizza mantle... or that somehow, if we're very lucky, we could convince a place like Lou Malnati's to open here (hey, when buttercrust is on the line, a boy can dream, right?).
My top two would be Lou's or Giordano's - but heck I'd gladly welcome any of the Chicago standards to town. Lou's has become something of a regional chain, with 60 locations in the Chicagoland area alone, so it wouldn't surprise me if maybe the restaurant was just having an off-night? I can totally see how disappointing that'd be though. The last time I got to experience them was about 6 months before the pandemic started, from the Crystal Lake location, and it was every bit as good as I remembered it - though that's just one point in time from one location. The hubby is from the area though and he didn't seem to notice anything off, for what it's worth.
OK, cool, good to hear - we had ordered frozen from them a couple of times and the last time wasn't as good as the first (which was surprisingly close to being in the restaurant), and then had the not-as-good in-person one. Didn't know they had that many now, and yeah, would agree about any of them coming here (our faves are Giordano's and Lou's too)...
Drove by and it looks like Pizza Planet on the SW corner of NW 16th and May closed. The sign was down. Not sure when I closed, but I had it a few times and enjoyed it.
The Sonic on meridian is boarded up and closed
The Fixx in Edmond announced they are closing. Really a bummer, they had excellent burgers!
