From Loyola's President to students
The City of New Orleans has now called for a voluntary evacuation. Ida is now a hurricane and is predicted to become a Category 3 or 4 storm before making landfall west of us. The current forecast for our area predicts tropical storm conditions, but the concern remains a last minute shift, as well as the possibility of heavy rain far from the storm’s center.
I've heard from a reliable source that Tulane is meeting today to discuss contingencies. Hopefully we'll have some clarification soon.
Jokes aside....Tulane and Loyola both have mandatory vaccination for students and New Orleans has a mask mandate in effect as well requiring proof of vaccination or negative test to eat in restaurants. Although OK has a couple percentages more of state wide fully vaccinated (OK 43.1% LA 40.9%), NOLA is nearing 80% of residents having at least the first shot https://www.fox8live.com/2021/08/24/...nation-status/
Yes and as someone who attended Tulane as an undergrad, the vast majority of the students aren’t even from Louisiana. Lot of students from all over the country.
Really worried for the city. Hoping the pumps work better this time but I’m not super optimistic.
They haven’t announced anything yet, but it seems like the chances of a New Orleans games is slim to none. With all the electricity out in the city, they can’t assume it will be back on by Saturday. I’m guessing the game will be in Norman this week.
The power company said it would take days to assess the damages and get a plan together, and much longer to address the problems. Those poor people have much bigger issues than trying to put on a football game, even if it symbolizes some form of normalcy for a couple of hours.
tulane football relocated to Birmingham to continue practice ..

they also have generators to power the stadium for next weekend ...
The game is going to be in Norman this weekend. I've already been hit up by Riverwind asking if I want suite tickets.
Tulane AD said no decision will be made until later today. Most players are from LA & MS, and that factors into it.

If D1 roster has 85 players I'm seeing more than 11 from MS and LA on this roster.

This report says it will be Norman
